mully, is the 196 sim teams before or after new coach sign ups??

Naismith has started pre-season so thsoe are the numbers after all sign ups.

Pretty sad.

From my reading of your statistics, it shows that DI and DII remained pretty much the same. I would say that's encouraging based upon the amount of veterans that said they were going to be leaving.

Not really namshub. Those jobs were just filled with the guys that moved up from D3/D2. The effect is still there.

The sharp decline in coaches in Naismith and other worlds has nothing to do with FreeHD and everything to do with the NO-potential system.

Season 34 was the first under the NO-Potential system. The Season 36 jump in coaches was because the season started during the NCAA Tournament - that jump happens every year.

I am just ending Season 36 in Naismith that had the fewest coaches than in any season I have seen since I joined Naismith in Season 19. My conference will have only two returning coaches for Season 37. Nearly every world that has rolled over has over 200 SimAI teams.

217 job openings in World 3, DIII
264 job openings in World 9, DIII
203 job openings in World 2, DIII
218 job openings in World 1, DIII
270 job openings in World 10, DIII

WiS ruined HD, especially, DIII with the NO-potential system and everyone has to pay the price.

I agree with everything you said except for this forum fact. I've tracked Smith and Naismith for 20 seasons and there has never been a jump associated with the NCAA timing.

If you say it long enough, eventually people might believe it.

Interesting post, here.

Two Predictions:

1. The number of FREEHD accounts will swell dramatically for the first season or two of the FSS service in each world, making it look like there is a surge of interest in HD.

2. The changes will actually result in a decrease of actively managed D3 teams, of somewhere between 10-20%, as long-term D3 coaches either move up to D2 or "retire" from HD.

I will be interested to see if the numbers bear this out.

I stand by this prediction until proven otherwise.

It certainly seems to be the case in Knight and Tark, where my D3 conferences have gone from 3-4 human coaches to 9-10 humans the last few seasons, but almost all the new coaches are FREEHD (based on the fact that they disappear every offseason only to reappear as soon as the world opens to new coaches).

With the most recent numbers from each world. I think both of my original predictions (11/10/2008) were accurate.

Sad.

How can this game be losing interest? Didn't we all ask for them to build our players for us, continue to make game planning useless to the point where all 0's wins championships, and have it so that we play against nothing but sim ai. Sounds fun to me

Can't speak for anyone else, but potential is not at all why I .

Is there usually a drop once you get near summer? I'm not arguing that coaches aren't leaving, but May this year vs. May previous years would probably be a better comparison.

I think we are down to 37 people playing with multiple IDs. all of us are set to zero and just check the scores and do little else.

You kinda filled in (with your own BS) there didn't ya Bubba?

But, If you say so then it must be right... after all,,, you would know how to exploit and abuse HD better than anyone

Mully for the DI #s, 169 humans, 155 sims. With 72 BCS teams , how many are humans? I'll assume 65. That means nonbcs teams have about 104 of 252 humans, 41%.
