You can say what you will, but there are a lot more colonels19 supporters than there are seble supporters and I guess that doesn't say a whole lot for the guy on the company side.

let's take a poll:

how many people here consider themselves 'colonels19 supporters'

so that's 0

Yeah.
This game is fun in one respect... you can put together a team of people that never did and never could play together and let someone else do all of the work for you to sim stats.

But it's in no way realistic or even consistent enough to warrant spending money on it as a competitive challenge. You might as well go play craps out on the street but not win any money when you do actually win.

I'll be the first guy to tell seble that I and/or we have been too harsh, but if this were my game...my BABY and it ran like this, not only would I take responsibility and be held accountable for any and all things "wrong" with my game (and these aren't differences of opinion, there seem to be a lot of guys here saying the same complaints), I would be ****** that my game wasn't running at peak efficiency and that a considerable amount of customers weren't happy with my game. Sure some ego/pride is going to seep in and you'll say "This is MY GAME, screw you guys...play it or not" but that really shouldn't be the overriding sentiment. If you have no customers then you have no game, period.

I guess I just keep waiting for seble to have the "what the hell have I done/what the hell is going on here" realization and it just never happens. How you can be happy/content with what's gone on and your customers' dissatistfaction is beyond me....how you continue to tell us that nothing's wrong when it blatantly is is bizarre as well.

Implying that there is more luck than skill in a team winning a nba sim league title is incorrect.

(hell you ain't even got any active teams - and when was the last time you had one, anyway? methinks you need to quit talking like you're better than everyone about a game you don't play.)

My last completed team was the $6M max league (I think it ended in August). I have a team entered into the blacklist league (all the teams haven't entered yet). Assuming the BOW tournament fills, I'll have several active teams once that gets going. I usually don't have many active teams because I don't play open leagues anymore and many nba theme leagues (some of which I've signed up for) don't fill.

let me just pull this here out...

anyway how about back to the conversation...?

u know ash, when u first came into this league, you were a wide-eyed, respectful, talented new owner who asked pertinent questions and offered, after a short time, constructive suggestions to others who were struggling. i thought, good, finally, another dedicated owner on the horizon.

then something happened during the last odl draft where u imploded. at first it was with monkee for ******** about the slow drafters, then again with 98average, and then with others. you pouted, then stated u were not going to offer anymore of your evals. then u just attacked nc, who probably knows more about this sim engine than you do, and u attack him for not having any current teams. what kind of nonsensical bs is that?

sure, the flaws in the current sim engine are numerous and well-documented, but i think a lot of us still put up with it because of the great bunch of owners here. u may not agree with what trevor (colonels) says, but at least he isn't inflammatory and attacks fellow credit card holders (except with seble). he's usually respectful and non-combative. what the hell happened to you?

in my opinion, u can't get better people to win against and suffer the indignities of the sim engine with than: monkee, nc, 98avg, ncih, funk, garyman, coach, ghostdog, vancem, macphisto, chester, arvid, shap, colonels, capnzen, jweb, jakotay, zizzo, tarheel, sly, ltbrad, llhtk, superdave, sappy, shine, tracyr, etc. we are, in a kind of way, a band of brothers. lighten up, will ya. when u 'dis' one of us, u dis us all.

hope u return to the old ash that lit the league on fire, and learn to live and let live again. peace.

how about this formulation: luck is too large an element to success at this point

I'm going to go to bat for ashamael here because I think I can understand how ****** is about the state of the game, and its boiling over to other posts/conversations as well. I too have had my dust ups with ncmusician (I respect him now and/or accept him for what/who he is) but I still think ash is making valid and pertinent points to the conversation. It looks to me that ncmusician took ash's initial comments to literally on page 20, and that's how this started. If monkee can harp on me for not having any teams and making statements, then why can't ashamael do the same to ncmusician?

I think all in all that ash is still here because he wants the game to improve so he can play and enjoy it like he used to, and how can you not respect and root for that kind of sentiment? It may not always come out nice, but the people who ***** are the people that care.

Thank you Scud for some reasoned thinking. Competing against familiar names does make this more fun. Owner rivalries from one league to the next do exist.

I expect all long time players have had a team that was kicking butt lose in the playoffs. It is frustrating, but then upsets happen in RL also. I recall one team I had that was doing great and then I had 5 overtimes in 7 games. I was looking at two weeks with fatigued players so hit the waiver wire for more minutes, thereby sinking that team's chances.

With the new rules of defensive positioning and way too many 3's I have yet to win another championship. I try not to go with Malone, Rodman, and 3 guys shooting 3's. I don't recall the last time I saw Bob Pettit.

I would like to see the 'easier' fixes before some of the more complicated sounding suggestions. The cost we pay for defense is not rewarded. I put a 90+ defender on the perimeter and still see Allen, etc. go off. Stockton is my favorite and his 80 defense rarely holds Steve Nash down, yet Nash and his 50 defense does fine against Stockton. So it seems.

I don't think luck plays too much of a factor in a 7 game series (but I think I'm in the minority on this topic). I think we might as well agree to disagree on this topic because I haven't seen luck be an overriding factor in the leagues I've played in.
