I just had an idea for the next version of this theme.
I like the 30 teams and 24 rounds plus round 25 "bonus round" so I don't think that will change, but...
Assume that each 24-man franchise roster had to stay below a $100 million salary cap (does not include the 2 bonus players) AND...
We use a $110 million salary cap for our drafted 25-man rosters. (The actual cap numbers to be determined)
Not only does the highest salary after each round, draft last, but now you have to be careful and not go over the cap. If your salary gets bloated, you would have to draft a cheaper "Bonus Player" and maybe even default to a <300K player if you can't afford to make a legal pick.
I would have to put in some special stipulations on building the franchise rosters, otherwise some folks would surely try a "screw your neighbor" strategy by including high salaried crappy players. The average salary of the 30 franchise rosters in this version was $119 million.
