Heartland Conference...Supreme Topic

We are pretty similar at the top, but you guys definitely have been better one to twelve. Hopefully we can keep closing the gap.

not with CT in the conference.

... blub still owns me though.

I'd say the only thing the Heartland needs to step it up with is deep runs in the NT. I've had some really strong teams at Westminster over the seasons (#1 seeds probably about 4 times), but I always get upset in the Elite 8 or sooner. Of course part of that is Iba being the toughest D3 there is (lol one season Hanover beat me in the Elite 8!), but still..I'd feel a lot better about our conference supremacy if we added a couple titles to that list above. Have to give the MIAA some credit in that department.

OUCH...how do you single me out ;p I've been consistently 3rd place in my division. I'm not saying I'm good or anything but I know that I'm not hurting the conference in terms of RPI. Somebody has to be the whipping boy for the top guys. I need to stop scheduling so tough and maybe I could get some consistent PI invites like Blub. But like I said, if this new guy has TBrown skills, this conference is going to be scary and third place won't be a lock anymore.

It's the hardest thing to do in either of these conferences: build a contender... or for that matter have to rebuild even for one season. I took over a woeful Manchester team and I was brand new to WIS. Guys like Al helped me a ton but it still took 5 seasons to get in the PT and 12 to make the NT. To be honest, it wasn't until I picked up a few other teams that I really began to learn how to win, especially in the Heartland.
I then made 4 consecutive NT appearences and made the post season 7 of 8 seasons with Manchester... until last season. With one SR and rebuilding a bit, we went 11-16 and still ended up with a 147 RPI. That is the challenge of a tough conference. I know it would have have been a lot easier to win in other conferences.
At the same time, a few seasons ago in D3 in another World, I went 23-8 and 25-5 and won the conference title both seasons and didn't make it to the NT becuse I lost in the CT. The next season when I did make the NT I went to the Final Four. Sometimes even when you are good a weak conference can kill you.

I also have to agree with Spas: I have no idea how we can put so many good teams into the NT every season and can't get a championship. Very perplexing!

suffice to say IBA d3 is da bomb.........oh lol by the way Al....I also won a PIT and so did Spas

Well it is safe to say that the MIAA isn't going to be anywhere near the top of the conference rankings this year.

At the end of non-conference play, Heartland is #3 behind the ODAC and Upstate. We have seven teams in the top 100

tanzetti - we still do have three very quality teams and Marantha was just ranked. Also, I highly doubt that Blub, TMP, myself, and Yooper are going to be easy wins.
