The Halifax Mooseheads are sad to announce that their longtime Goaltender Leland Irving has chosen to hang up his skates to persue a carreer in politics. Leland has been Halifax's main goalie since day one, and can be credited with making even their bad years just a little bit better.
Leland leaves us with carreer totals of 176 wins, 151 loses, 61 ties and 50 shutouts. Even though Leland suffered thru some horrendusly bad years with pourus defences, and anemic scoring, his 2.29 GAA and 92% SP are very impressive numbers.
When asked about taking this new direction in his life Leland stated, "The Mooseheads are a newer, younger team, and appear to be headed in a new direction. I feel it is best for me to step aside and let new leaders take this franchise to the next level. My heart will always be in Halifax, but now, it is time I move on and tackle a new challenge. That is why I am following my boyhood idol, Mr. Ken Dryden, and moving into politics. I expect you to see me soon, running for office in, a riding near you. I believe my first campain motto may even be, 'Forget Sweese, Vote for Irving!':)"
