If the question really refers to whether I'd rather have hitters or fielders, I'd take the hitters only because I could build my pitching staff knowing that I had bricks playing the field.   If I'm stuck with a team that can catch everything and hit nothing, pitching staff doesn't matter because I still won't be able to score runs.   But, in HBD, I tend to put an emphasis on middle D.

Are the actual pitches that a pitcher has (i.e. Curveball, Slider, 4-Seam Fastball, etc.)  just window dressing, or do they actually have an effect on gameplay?

I had been under the impression they were just window dressing until I read the last question in this developer chat (9/21/2007) today.

WifS has long maintained that the pitch typ is just window dressing.   I haven't paid enough attention to it to refute that.

I knew they set a league record with 25 straight losses.   But ESPN radio has been too busy reporting on Carmelo Anthony for the last week to talk about anything else.   This is one reason I hate the NBA.   Team news can't get any play because individual player news dominates the sport.   I blame Michael Jordon.

Not to the point that it affects life decisions.   Sure.  Maybe it's like calling big guys "Tiny".

WifS has said you do not.   Owners have compared notes to "test" it and said the numbers were similar but not exact.   That sounds about right to me.
