Bryan Berard will be in camp as a tryout. What the hell are the Flyers going to be doing with all these defensmen.

Morph 4 or 5 of them into one solid #3 somehow?

i think the Flyers have a great chance this year for 1st overall in the East

...I'm not happy.

Glad we didn't go after Meszaros Tampa paid a pretty big price for him Kubina, Picard, and a 1st.

I like the idea of morphing the players that would be the only way I think Kukkonen would have a shot at making the starting lineup at least his heart and shot blocking would.

At this point I think there are only 3 defensmen that are locks on the roster Timonen, Coburn, and overpaid Jones. The other 3 or 4 spots are between Berard, Vaananen, Eminger, Parent, Kuukonen, Bodrov, Ratchuck, and Grenier. I am sure I am missing a few.

Well, we gave up a #1 pick for Eminger, have to think Homer thinks highly of him. Vaananen almost seems a lock to me, he's the only one with a nasty edge to him if Hatch is on LTIR. I don't see Kukkonen as more than a 7th as long as Stevens is here, I can see him being traded away for a pick to clear up some of this mess. Parent is one of the few with a two way contract, want to see him make the team but he may be a Phantom for one more year. Seems to me there will be a lot of guys fighting for one spot, not a bad thing.

Excited to see what Bodrov can do in camp and pre-season. Curious to see if Stevens breaks up Coburn and Timonen. Don't really want to see that but having Jones ancor the 2nd pairing scares me. Still think there's one more pretty big trade in the works, if it shores up that 2nd pairing I'll be real happy. If they don't break up Coburn/Timonen I think we'll end up with one of the best 1st and 3rd Dlines out there, it's the 2nd that will be pretty iffy.

If there is just 1 spot then I would have to say it would be between Berard and Parent. The question would be can Berard at this point in his career play in the 2nd pairing? I like the addition of Eminger but it is anyones guess as to what he might be able to do on this team, he can be a 2nd pairing if Washington didn't ruin him so I guess time will tell on that.

Bodrov is a stay at home D-man if they want to go with that Parent is proably the better choice.

Lindros has been invited to the Flyers preseason game at the spectrum with all the other captains. I wonder if he will show up, Clarke will be there.

Heard Lindros declined, "other obligations"

Problem with most of these Dmen is who knows about them? Bodrov is a big question mark. I never really noticed Eminger much which is either a good thing or the times I saw the Caps were some of the many he was scratched. I'm going into the season wanting to like him but we'll see. Berard? Maybe last year paired with Hatcher or Smith but I don't see it this year. Berard/Jones would be a defensive nightmare. Jones/Parent seems a good combo to me after Parent has a half a season in him, early on it could be bad. Our forwards are as solid as can be, it'll be interesting to see how whatever D crew we end up with comes together. If Homers on to something with Eminger and Jones plays as well defensively as he did at the end of the season I can see a run to the finals. All comes down to that as far as I can tell.
