That is pretty surprising Hall would accept that. Maybe it's finally getting through his head that he stinks and needs to regain his swing if he wants any chance of having another paycheck once the obscene one he's getting now runs out.

Melvin says there's less than a 50% chance a trade will occur, though I don't know if this pitching staff has enough innings in it to last the rest of the season without a trade occurring. My guess is the Correia trade will happen. If they get him without giving up a legit prospect I don't see a downside, considering they're already pretty much out of it.

Hall claims that he accepted the assignment to get reps for his "new swing." He claims "My batting practice the last few weeks has been some of the best of my career" but he just hasn't gotten reps to show it in the game. I'd feel optimistic about him, except this is at least the 3rd time we've heard "I've fixed everything" from him, the other 2 times being after Lasik surgery and after an adjustment he made earlier this season. Why not demote him? Irribarren (or whoever replaces him) can't be worse.

Melvin reiterated that he doesn't think there will be a trade. Most likely Mike Burns will be back in the rotation.

No trade brewing as of now, per Melvin. Mike Burns likely to replace Suppan in rotation if nothing happens.

Deputy Braun will not be happy.

Burns and Irribearan? have been recalled from Nashville. Burns will likely start Saturday with Villenueva starting Sunday. I guess there won't be a trade.

I am glad that I didn't go out there this weekend. My brother lives about 10 blocks from the ballpark in San Diego and invited me. I am sure I would have been disappointed.

Dodgers Acquire Vinny Rottino For Claudio Vargas

Here

I don't think "acquire" is the right word for Vinny Rottino... "are stuck with" might be better (same applies for Vargas, no doubt).

Bleh. I remember Vargas starts were something to cringe at. 3 baserunners every inning, yet he'd somehow still only allow 2 runs through 5, while racking up 110 pitches.

Oh well.

hee hee.. my coworker was telling me about the trade and he said "Guess who we got? It's a former Brewer... the bases always seemed to be loaded when he pitched."

He was worse to watch than Doug Davis. Get ready for some 4 hour games.

He hasn't pitched more than two innings this year.. I'm guessing he goes to the bullpen (at least for now) and that our other CV will stay in the rotation.

Another impressive night for the Brewers' pitching staff.
