Problem is you still owed one more walk he never got foolish

Okay here is where I am sitting, the challenge will continue. SO everyone may play on.

Foolish vs gonzos has 2 problems.

The first is the illeagle pitcher in the 8th. Foolish protested this. If he wishes to keep his protest we will set it up so that the game can start from that point by manipulating starting lineups and using walks in the 1st inning to get to where we were.

If foolish wishes to drop his protest we then flash forward to the 9th where gonzos was owed a walk from teh 7th and the 8th plus the walk to start the 9th. He only got 2 of those walks. So if foolish wishes to drop his portion we would start in the 9th with foolish up 10-7 and owing gonzos the walks.

Again I have the play by play log saved on my coputer and we can recreate the situation.

Foolish if you need more details on the situation please let me know.

so i should just start in the 8th and bring in Sandy Koufax ? no penalty for illegal pitchers right ?

Foolish, had you given the proper amount of walks and won this would all be a non issue, had you given the proper amount of walks and lost your protest would have resulted in exactly what is happeneing here. You having the oppertunity to have the game restart at the point where the illeagle pitcher entered the game.

That means you would have Davis on 1st with Roesebro at the plate. An pitcher that was used earlier in the game wouldnt be eligible to come in.

AL's 61 Tigers hold on against the 62 Dodgers for a 4-3 win. I missed two walks but made them up as stipulated in the rules, and apologize to sabreclub for those mistakes. It did make for an interesting 9th inning, with the first two batters getting free passes and Wills singling to load 'em up, leading to two runs before Terry Fox came on and got the save.

No worries.

I think being able to choose when a missed IBB is made up makes up for any that are missed. In our game, sabreclub followed my first missed walk to his leadfoot pitcher with an IBB to Wills, and used the second (in the 8th) to set up runners at first and second to start the 9th.

It helped greatly that Dick "Bullet Arm" Brown gunned down all three runners trying to steal, Wills twice and Willie Davis once.

The games should definitely be played at Normal speed, not Fast.

* Just so we're all on the same page... what's the final ruling? If someone misses an intentional walk-- the other team gets to ask for 2 walks at any time?

* And as far as "illegal pitchers" -- we can't use any pitcher in relief that had more starts than relief appearances?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In that case, we might need to do a solo practice game... to see who the SIM TEAM has on the roster as opposed to who's in the database. For THIS challenge and any others going forward. I know that for the '61 Tigers- Set up man Jim Donohue (122 innings in the database) is not even on the team when you play a game... very confusing...

George Thomas is another guy in the database on the Tigers @ 319 PA's / .279 13 HR's / .458 SLG 74 speed... but NOT on the actual roster when you play the games...

toddleduc...that lesson (players not on rosters was a lesson some of us learned in season 1.

I'm just wondering about the illegal pitcher that was used. Why would there be a replay from that point on? In season one, using an illegal pitcher meant a forfeit of the game. Regardless of whether or not walks were still owed it should still be a forfeit...the missed walk by foolish is a problem as well, but to me the illegal pitcher issue takes precident as at that time of the game foolish could have easily made up for any missed walks in later innings...unless of course the missed walk had already been asked for and foolish missed that request. Not seeing the game log its hard to know exactly what happened.

After your initial ruling knee about the illegal pitcher was to just "sub him out" I was livid he had just gotten 2 outs the game seemed to go on while i was still kickin dirt on home plate We will pick it up in the ninth . . 2 outs right ?
3/6/2010 4:24 AM
Actually the 2 missed bb should just offset the 2 batters his illegal pitcher got out

No, a missed IBB means the other player gets to request one makeup IBB at any point, including in a later inning. At least that's how sabreclub and I interpreted it.
