One doesn't have to go to jail to feel new laws compromise their belief system.

Now, if people opposing SSM didn't think the new laws were being FORCED on them and that said new law would jeopardize their belief system, why did it take so long to pass? And why is it still a topic?

Since you're married, to a WOMAN no less (that lucky girl!), I suppose we could argue this.

The banning of SSM does not impact your beliefs. You're not gay. You're not going to get gay-married. Nothing changes for you if SSM is banned in this country. Nothing has been forced on you.

i dont get involved here anymore but my only comment is why even discuss this...if they do not understand that being gay is normal no amount of arguing can make a difference...forget about it.

Should we only legalize actions that do not upset your beliefs?

I hate to break it to you, but we're never going to be able to do anything if we have to make sure the only legal activities anyone can participate in don't upset the personal beliefs of any single person in the country.

How many gay people are married? How many people oppose SSM? What's good for the majority isn't always good for the nation.

We should probably legalize actions that further us as a country. I'm not sure SSM qualifies. Unless, of course, you're all "But it makes more people happy!!!!" guy. If you're that guy, I've got a list for you.
