Aight... we start with MMA.
382 RPI 244 SOS... ended the season 0-10.
This teams got some serious problemos.... however, they are a prime target for a Vet wanting a rebuild. They can convert to 2 defenses easily...
They will return:
5 juniors 1 has grade issues and I'd probably cut another one, and 3 sophs.
I look at em and figure they have 3-4 players to keep and use...
MMA will have some $ so I'd prolly cut 2 guys and sign 3-4 frosh, a juco or two and take a W/O.
If one or two of those disgruntled kids transfer... thay have loads of cash... should have all of last seasons, plus boatloads this year.
They could actually become a factor in the conference in as little as 2 seasons.
They appear to me that they could begain next season in the 465-475 range.

Becker is next....
361 RPI 280 SOS, ended season 2-8......
They should begin next season around 420-425 and be a tough project... I put them on the 3 year plan, as opposed to MMA, who could compete in 2 seasons. This team has 4 open schollys and I might cut another one or 2. The freshman class tho sim recruited has great WE and decent IQ's so they could develop into a servicable group as you raise your pups to help them.
Next season tho could be painful unless you look for Juco help.

Johnson St.
329 RPI 349 SOS ended the season 1-9.....
Tex should have a much more balanced team next season as he returns everyone. Koffler again will highlight the team, however as the youth continue to improve, I look for his points to begin to spread across the rest of the team and the wins begin to add up. Koffler should begin the season around 700 and end in the 740-750 range... truely remarkable!
Tex's team should begin the season around 500 rated, which is a nice place to start a good season at.
J.St could easily flip that record from 10-16 to 16-10 or better with the right development of his boys. The NC portion of the schedule looks much improved over this season, so even a 5-5 record there will bring that inflated 329 RPI and 349 SOS down substantially.

Elmo, Elmo, Elmo,,,,,,
273 RPI SOS 79 ended the season 5-5 and on FIRE........
Coach Elmo finally gets to coach his own boys.
Elms graduates 3 and drops 2 W/O's so the recruiting cash will be flowing freely around the Elms campus. Elms should begin the season around the 490-495 range, and should be a hand-full to deal with.
The trio of Marlar, Reeves, and Anderson, could be a real lock-down defensive unit. The next years schedule,,, tho unfinished???? looks pretty decent.
I predict that next season a team that finishes over .500 in conference will have a 75-100 point lower RPI than a 8-8 team this season.... and that's a good thing

Salem State
235 RPI 358 SOS ended the season 3-7.....
Salem St. grads 4 sr's and has no juniors. They will be very young next season. Without some Juco blood they should begin the season in the 450 range. Their NC schedule doesn't look too difficult, but they will be playing in the much improved South side of the conference. A repeat of this years 9-7 record will be tough....

Mizzou, MMA won't have last season's cash. Because he didn't fill all of his slots, he doesn't get to keep the 1/4 of remaining funds.

hows the recruiting trail going for everyone.?
10/4/2007 12:10 PM
lost $20 in a poker game last night on the bus to my assistant coach. not happy about it either..... other than that not much here... on our way to Alaska to check out a couple tall Eskimos we heard about.
10/4/2007 1:22 PM
Well, right now I am rearranging my sock drawer and randomly calling the returning players telling them I plan to redshirt them...the seniors take that REALLY well.
Hey mizzou, can I call shotgun on the Alaska trip?
10/4/2007 2:12 PM
sure.... meet us at the Little Big Horn Casino in Minnetonka Minne. We're gonna put the chains on the bus there just to be prepared.

ROFL, this conference wins at humor... so, any predictions on where this conference ranks in 2 to 3 seasons? looks like we're headed in the right direction for sure.
10/6/2007 3:53 PM
This season I think we're a top 15... next season a top 10.

We're on the up elevator.

Pre-Season Report
these will be in order of final finish last season mostly.
#12. Maine Maritime Academy 0-27 382 RPI 440 rating w 1-W/O = 455
We welcome beachedwhale to the NAC, he has taken over the monumental task of untracking the Ghost-ship MMA. He returns 5 sr's and a jr. They are pretty decent as a core. His first recruiting efforts netted 5 frosh and a w/o. I would rated his class as about a C. The verdict is not in on these boys as their over-all core stats are not extremely high, however, he recruited very good WE in all 5 and should see very good improvement over time with this bunch. He will again have lots of $ for recruiting next season as he grads 5 and a w/o. I would expect MMA to be in the bottom 1/3 of the conference this season (due mainly to over-all improvement in the NAC), next season, just due to youth and the fdtruck curse I would be surprised to see him climb out of the bottom half. After that he should move up very well as his boys mature.
#11. Becker 6-21 RPI 360 436 Rating
We also welcome a Vet. to the NAC in jellyd. He returns one Sr, who doesn't count and 2 jrs, who hardly count. I would rate his first recruiting season in the NAC as a successful one. He added 3 guards, 2 of which I would put into the B+ category, and a Center I would rate as possibly an A-. With no more prestige than he had to work with he did an excellant job of landing 4 guys with an average rating of near 445. Most of their points seem to be in core categories. Becker will be very young for a couple of season, but I don't look for them to remain in the bottom 1/2 of the conference very long if jellyd can put together some more talent to go with these 4. Might be a couple seasons away right now.
#10 Elms 7-20 RPI 275 488 Rating
Elms returns 6-Sr and a Jr.
With this core he could continue what he started to end the season.... however, rebuild is looming on the horizon with 5 frosh comming in. Coach Elmo looks to be in the middle of a makeover. He recruited some good core talent with 2 or 3 of his kids getting what I would give as a B+ rating from my view. His overall class would probably rate about a B from me, however the lower rated ones do have nice assets in certain areas with decent WE, so they could turn into very nice role-players for the future. The future looks good at Elms College, just may be a couple seasons away.

#9. Johnson St. 10-17 RPI 325 515 Rating.... (yes 515)
I'm not gonna spend much time here... King Koffer's gawdy 700 drives the rating for this team... (they're about 500 Rated). Tex only had one recruit and landed a decent one. As long as Koffer gets 100% there's simply not much to say.
#8. Salem St. 14-13 RPI 235 444 Rated
Luckystar looses 6 players to graduation, and thus begins the rebuilding project. He did manage to land 6 pretty decent recruits, all ranging from C+ to B+ IMHO. He also landed the heavily sought after Giglio, who I predict will out-preform his numbers. With all of his roster either frosh or sophs... it may be a long season in Salem State, however, he also looks to have some good young talent in place for the future. It looks like about 8 of the 10 NC games on Salem's schedule are rated equal or higher than Salem. ..... all 5 of these first teams could easily move into the top spots in the conference in 2-3 seasons as the top teams then begin to rebuild their slightly older teams.
#3-#7 appear to be very close.
#7. Thomas 14-16 RPI 161 482 Rating
KUj is simply missing that senior leadership that usually is involved in a NT run. Thomas should start next season at about 510-515 overall rating.... a nice place to begin a 20 win season. Coach KUj's team is shaping up well and he ended last season on a very up-beat note. He also added a couple of much needed bigs down low to help out inside. Thomas also has at least 8 teams on the NC schedule that are their equal or higher rated. The future looks bright in Thomas-town (after this NC season anyway).
