I wonder whether the windsocks who were sucking and blowing about Wenger's parsimony during the transfer window have had their faith restored.

While I don't support the Three Lions, it was nice to see several promising young English players in that game, including Gavin Hoyte, Kieran Gibbs (whom Rob has mentioned in the past), Jack Wilshere and Mark Randall. Wilshere, in particular, looks set to become a future star for England, which should end the garbage about Wenger's anglophobia as well as the complaint that he doesn't do enough for English football. Sheffield United's manager Kevin Blackwell mentioned seeing some of those kids in the national team was the one positive that emerged for him after losing 6-0.

well, Van Persie scored a beautiful goal right in front of me - so the exorbitant cost of going to the game was worth it - however shoddy refereeing made most of the rest of the game an absolute mess - Adebayor deserved the 2nd yellow, but not the first - and Lucas should have been sent off for a nasty challenge earlier

it seemed like Liverpool never really went after a goal - just odd

Rob, how much did tickets set you back? I'm going with my son in August. He's a Villa supporter so we'll probably head up to Birmingham to try to catch a match at Villa Park, too. Appreciate it if you could send me a sitemail.

Webb wrecked the game -- both yellows to Adebayor looked harsh, although the second one was borderline and he should have altered his physical approach after receiving the first very soft card. How Lucas managed to stay on the park and out of the book is troubling and leads me to wonder if Webb -- who sent off Adebayor in the Carling Cup final fracas a couple years back -- had a personal beef with the big striker.

Just as impressive as RVP's goal was the vision and deft touch shown by Nasri in picking him out. We're a different side with him on the wing. Song also impressed but I'm praying Fabregas' knee isn't badly hurt or we're in real trouble.

despite that one pass from Nasri - i thought he was awful in the first half - after Adebayor got sent off, i thought only then that Nasri started playing well - he and Diaby played very well together

after the Liverpool and Villa games, one thing is very clear - Gallas has to go - ASAP

Just looking back over the season, he's been poor. His lapse cost the goal in the Fulham defeat, too. Hopefully, Milan have lodged a bid for him.

God, I hope so because I'm getting up at 6:30 a.m. to watch the bloody game. Their form has been pretty good lately. Now watch them pucker and lose 1-0.
