Yea, I understand that a true resolution would be very complicated, and truth be told it's hard to get upset about a game that is free. However, I have followed this random team I was assigned for over three months, and while my "football" knowledge is limited (what the bleep is zonal marking???), I do know from other WIS games that there is a tremendious difference in overall rankings and that all 55 overall players are not equal. So, please, make me an offer, any offer, for my "stud" goaltender. Of course, that would be foolish on your part as it would assure me of keeping my "stud" forward, but hey, it's only my recreation time that was wasted.

To clear p that bolded bit (since it was never answered)... think zone defense. Player marking would be man-to-man.

I'd like to see trading players built in, as well as incentives.

I've mentioned it before - Worldwide Soccer Manager has some great ideas about management that can be "borrowed," because it's based on the real thing. Player exchanges, performance bonuses included in transfers, future buy-back clauses, relegation/promotion clauses, % annual increases... It would be a nice addition.

We will definitely work these things in, but we wanted to start at the basics and work on those and then add to it.

Player trades in soccer aren't quite as common as we are used to. It's even less likely now, since the european union views the contracts as worker contracts and has all sorts of rules for them. Transfers now require the player to agree to their new club and contract where it used to be solely up to the club. A trade would be really like a simultaneous transfer and both clubs and both players would have to agree, which probably makes it very complicated to work through.

I think we can work trades in and still keep the flavor of the transfer system. Basically it would react like a mutual transfer.

Yes. Player loaning is a part of soccer. However, I don't think it will be used very much until we get some higher level divisions in the leagues. Plus it is something we really want to make useful and uncomplicated. We will probably look at this when we look at making transfers more in depth.

My team started with $250,000+ to spare... is this unusually high? Considering some people have negative payrolls, I would assume so.

Can I expect to be a big spender with that kind of cash?

250K? Are you kidding? Yes , compared to most everyone else you can be the NY Yankees in the F/A market.
12/15/2008 10:42 AM
bad connection the Yankees are dropping their pay role 10% so you can't say that at least this year.
12/15/2008 1:34 PM
Just keep in mind that everyone basically starts with $850k available for payroll for the first season.

Good to know... I'd already made a couple offers.

I just joind World 74 with a negative ($696,000) payroll. I have a goalkeeper making $280,000 per year. If the sim cuts the 7 highest paid players from my 23 man roster, I'd be down to 16 players. With no money to scout/sign.

What is the league minimum salary?
2/7/2009 12:32 PM
holy sh**. I don't think I have seen a team that high over payroll. Post that goalies ratings cause he must be a super-stud.

Also, lowest player you will probably find salary-wise is in the 15-20k range.

Are you sure it isn't something like 4 years totalling $280,000? That would be much more in line with the usual arrangement. I think the highest one-year salary I have ever seen mentioned in the threads is something in the neighborhood of $110K or $120K.

Come to think of it, is that ($696K) before or after league payout? I've never heard of anything like that after the payout, either, although that wouldn't be an unusual figure before payout.
2/7/2009 1:35 PM
No offense, but are you reading that wrong? I can't imagine the sim would assign you a team that far out of line with everyone else. And a player costing 280k per season... I don't even know if that makes sense. Every single rating in the 90s, maybe?
