Free HD took away any value teams had. Now we have people with 2 teams in the same Division and the same Conference and the value of any one team is the same as the price.

what exactly is a *clear case*

i recently lost a game (IBA-Elite8 - UCLA v Va Tech) in which my team rating was 120 pts PER PLAYER better than my opponent - every matchup was an advantage for me, my guys were fresher throughout the game, had equal or better IQ's, etc - yet the game was never in doubt for my opponent

so in a game which clearly wasnt a thrown game, how exactly would you *deem* seeing a game like this?

there is no way possible to know if someone throws a game, unless they start all walkons and completely rest their starters

If you're throwing games to conference foes then basically YOU AND YOUR TEAM SUCK!!! Stop wasting money on WIS and go buy some Garbage Pail Cards retards. It's a joke WIS even has to address this.

last season I lost my best player in the CT final to a broken ankle. If I am guaranteed a spot in the NT not sure I will play my best players anymore - that isn't throwing the game. That is making sure I have my best players available to me in the NT

One possible solution could be to make it so only teams who go to the NT receive bonus money, instead of spreading it around. So if a #1 seed DI team A throws the CT championship to #150 RPI team B, then team A makes it to the final 4, it gets ($20,000*5)/3, but it gets nothing additional for B's 1st round exit. Then there would be no incentive to "throw" a game.

Why are so many people defending themselves over this? Are there that many of you that feel like this is aimed at you? Is this more rampid than I thought?

This might be an apples to oranges comparison, but don't NFL teams bench their starters the last game of the season when their playoff picture is locked down? Seems like they should fix the issues that effect the masses before going on a "witch hunt" for the few teams that may be throwing games.

What an absolute joke. WIS is so full of crap. How exactly are you going to prove it? And, don't you have different rules for different people?

2/23/2009 3:05 PM
Well, you are an idiot if you throw a CT game anyway. You hurt your own seed, your RPI, your ranking and your future prestige (all of which are helped with a CT championship) so you can get 1/12 of the money the crappy team gets when it exits in the first round? In D-III, you get an extra $250, In D-II you get an extra $417 and in D-I an extra $1667. You are a moron if you are throwing games to let an extra team from your league in.

That being said, if people are dumb enough to do this, and it appears they are, WIS absolutely should police this . . . it's not fair to the team in the other league that gets screwed.

They are called 'fair play' rules for a reason.

And if you are benching a guy out of fear of injury in a CT game, you are also an idiot, players don't get hurt very often in this game, the cost/benefit to benching a starter, on the off chance he gets hurt is way in favor of playing him.

when is the last time you saw a Big 6 team or any team for that matter sit or rest its best players in a real life Conf Final(and I am not talking about taking players out with a huge lead at the end of the game)? It might be one thing to do it at the end of the season but to do it in the Conf Finals is a completly dif situation.

Whoa, now we can't adjust our line ups? I often did it. I'll make promises I can't live up to, and if the game is meaningless I'll adjust my line ups to make that player happy. Also, if I had someone out for most the season, before NT time I'll adjust to see who will play what role for my team. Sorry, this is a "coaching" game, and we all have every right to make adjustments to our line ups as well as game plan without being accused of doing something wrong.
Since when is a CT game meaningless? If you're still drastically adjusting lineups at that point, you're just a bad coach.
