I don't think the discussion should be about home field advantage, because like is being said a lot that you should build your team around the park YOU CHOOSE for your team, BUT, it should be more about the effects of the road team that cause a road disadvantage.

Effects like travel, long road trips, road crowds, etc.

These type of effects could be built into the game as it would make more sense doing that then a "home advantage".

This idea might be the home advantage that might make many happy.

And in order to do this, they'd have to start calculating the distance between cities on road trips, which would cause extreme fatigue for some teams, which would mean people would start lobbying for more realistic schedules (IE, a road trip for Rochester today can result in one series in Texas, one in California, and one back in Florida, etc... when in reality, a road trip should result in multiple series in the same geographic location).

That scenario ends up causing a schedule nightmare.

This whole discussion is really pointless. It adds NOTHING to the game. There are many other things that should be fixed/tweaked before even remotely considering this.

Ticket submitted:

I have noticed quite a ruckus in the HBD forums about "home field advantage." It seems to be a very strident and passionate attempt by one individual to alter the game of HBD.

I think he is off base in asking for an arbitrary, even capricious, "home field advantage" to be programmed into a game that already accounts for individual differences in the playing fields.

Please do not mistake a stridently expressed idea for a quality idea, and please do not alter the game with an arbitrary "home field advantage."

How can anyone continue to claim that your field gives you an advantage. It allows you to play better at fields designed for your team, but since many parks are the same it can in no way be considered an actual home field advantage.

What if Vancouver plays Rochester in a home and away 3 game series. Since both stadiums are the same no one gets a home field advantage.

CASE CLOSED!! YOUR STADIUM CLEARLY DOES NO GIVE YOU A HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE!! CASE CLOSED!!

I again reach out to all of you who have written me to support this cause. I appreciate that you have sent in tickets, but you must do more. Urge all your friends to also send in tickets. Write in your world forums about this issue. Forces are conspiring against us, and we must fight back for what is right!

I've tried, twice, to engage you in a substantive discussion of this issue.

I can only conclude, lacking any kind of cogent argument, that you are a world-class moron.

Seriously, rather than lobby for a "home field advantage" (a.k.a. "something for nothing"), why not just put in a little more effort to try to make your team just a little bit better than the other guy's? That will have the same net effect (more wins for you), and you'll feel much better about yourself in the morning.
Thats his MO to a tee
I am not horrible at the game. Made the playoffs 2 of the last 3 years, above average.

Again you are not getting something for nothing. No one coach is going to benefit from this, only the game itself will benefit from added realism and a deeper richer strategic option level.

Please explain the "deeper richer strategic option level".

CASE CLOSED!! YOUR STADIUM CLEARLY DOES NO GIVE YOU A HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE!! CASE CLOSED!! The advantage should only be greater when there is a difference in parks. You fail to comprehend this

Home Field Advantage, Good for You...Good for Me...And good for HBD

Once agian, Home Field Advantage already exists (ballpark affects). No need for anything else

Home field in baseball is essentially the effect of your ballpark. Build your team to your park and will have the advantage when you play a team from a dissimilar ballpark. There is little crowd affect in baseball as there is in football (loud crowd makes it difficult to hear QB) or basketball (fans trying to distract free throw shooters).

I don't know about home field advantage but they could/should build something into fatigue for Home and Away games. If a team goes on a Road Trip the players could/should tire more easily than a Home Stand.

Oh, for God's sake. Just stop this now.

I think the very notion of "clutch" ridiculous, but then I'm both a math nerd and well-read.

I think the absence of some quantifiable, admin-admitted "home field advantage" is unfortunate. Because there IS a home field advantage, it is just not obvious. And I find that unfortunate, because it means I feel compelled to respond to threads like this one.

I agree on both accounts, HFA being very real and the notion of "clutch" being a ridiculous one

Swamp, your argument is losing because you don't use enough caps. By now we all pretty much know there is no logic or even rational thought to your position, so obviously you're not goig to score any points that way. But CAPITAL LETTERS may put you over the top. Look how this grabs attention:

You need more of that sort of thing if you hope to get any more converts to your lunacy.

Just trying to help.

Personally, I'd make sure to schedule all 162 games at home.
