I nominate my brother kyle's miami team. I'm gonna bust up laughing when he gets ****** that tribe keeps trying to poach his recruits. I doubt tribe's efforts will actally work against kyle's much better program but it will tick him off. Then i'll show him this thread.

I HATE when people say this.

We pay REAL money for HD.

So I will take it as a serious thing.

Some guy because he is about to quit the game wants to go out like a douchebag is searching for someones recruiting to ruin just cause. Thats just wrong, and technically its collusion.

Poaching and what he is talking about are different.

You "poach" someone when they didnt protect their players, or have themselves too far spread out, and obviously too make your team better.

Not just cause you are going out.

I want to clarify that I do not intend to ruin anyone's recruiting, as I suggested. In fact, I am going to stick around HD for the forseeable future.

The point I was hoping to make through this exercise was not that I am a "douchebag." Here is my point, supported by the above quote ... we do all pay real money for this game and hope to derive some level of mutual enjoyment from it. When a higher-prestige school "poaches" a recruit from a lower-prestige school for the odd thrill of doing so, he helping ruin the other coach's recruiting class as well as his HD experience.

My idea was posted in an open forum and shot down as unethical, as it should have been. There are some coaches out there who choose to operate this way, and those coaches should eventually receive some penalty for doing so, even if it is from some "douchebag" getting ready to leave. Under the current system, there is no practical or tangible penalty for higher-prestige coaches who ruin others' gaming experience.

That was my point.

Ridiculous. How do you know when a higher prestige school is poaching for the "odd thrill of doing so" and when they are going after a backup recruit late after their first options have fallen through?

I check the forum once/twice a month for just this kind of thread...

hilarious!

Those who have spent time at lower-prestige schools might have additional input, but I would submit at least two scenarios:

1. When the recruit in question has already been considering two or more lower-prestige schools since early in the process.

2. When the recruit in question is of a significantly lower talent level than what a high-prestige school should be recruiting.

BTW, this is not a rant over a current event. It happened quite a bit when I was at Liberty, but that was several seasons ago.

I doubt many people are "poaching" for fun...I call bullshit.

Well, yes, there is poaching in HD. If you sit around and wait til the cycle before signings (for example) and then dump a boatload of money into a guy considering another school, that's most certainly poaching.

Now, the real question is whether poaching is bad or unethical, and I would say that it's certainly not.

Don't worry Kelby, I won't go after your brother's recruits.

Actually, with a C prestige, I'm not going after ANYONE'S recruits. It's going to be a long rebuilding process here at Minnesota.

After considering dacj's post, I would tend to agree that there is a difference between "not very nice" and "unethical." My experience may be anecdotal, but I sure seemed to be on the wrong end of "not very nice" a lot at Liberty.

Uncle.
