speed vs athlete in SF Topic

b = 45 ath / 45 sp

i like ath in my SFs so i can have them play PF in d1 when needed.

i would go with whatever complimented the rest of my team best. if i had sg or backup sf with more ath, i would look for more speed to maintain balance.

I'd take B. I always search for 35 ath/speed and 30 reb as my minimum search so having 45/45 would be awesome. A guy with 30/60 in div III starting cores would likely have no rebounding so I would pass on him. Option A I would never look at.

Also: There was a decent thread on this that I think I started where people just completely disagree on how important sp/ath is for all positions. Someone said that ath>spd even in guards, and someone else said sp>>>ath in SFs.

As for me, I'm a little confused as to how much it actually matters. Sometimes I think in individual matchups, if your player is REALLY slow or REALLY unathletic and has to matchup man to man with someone superior in one of those categories, he will end up fouling a lot or just getting torched.

I am with Z on this. C with no question about it. I like my SF to be a 3rd guard (especially if that player is my best scorer off the bench), and I care much more about PER than LP in my SF's (in a perfect world). Reason for 3rd guard approach is just based on the fact that I consistently have post players that underperform their respective ratings, while my guards generally perform closer to their expected level. Would rather error on the side of guys who perform as expected. Just my observation from my own teams.
Not trying to single out jp on this one but I have noticed alot of people saying this. If you want your SF to be more like a guard, then recruit more SG and play them at that position. For me, I would answer B and make sure that he has better REB and LP to be more of a presence down low and use my extra SG as his sub to give me a better mis-match from outside.
I do recruit SG's to play at SF. But if a SF has those same attributes... I don't discriminate (I pretty much don't care about assigned position - I go strictly by ratings) .

Also, the initial question said all other categories are equal, so the only question here is Speed vs. ATH. Rebounding is theoretically equal.
