i like this league in principle but i'm hedging a bit, because there are a few snags here:

1) the distribution of talent is logarithmic.
2) picking the middle hedges against getting stuck with the last player at a desirable position, but greater space between picks involves greater uncertainty about the players you're going to build around.
3) the starting positions are worth more than the bench and therefore there's (however marginal) greater value in having a higher pick (closer to 0) than a lower one

one thing that's interesting is that you can see how people spread out their picks to see how this holds:

8 of the 12 picks are either the first or last 4 picks in a given round (conditions 1,2)
8 of the 12 picks are in the first 13 (condition 3)

you could argue that a way to make the draft truly equitable is to randomize where the rounds start but that defeats the purpose of picking your slot.

that said, i like this idea a lot. consider me a "wait list"

thanks for your comments, devizier, though i'm not totally clear on what u said. imo, u seem to be placing emphasis on the salaries in determining value, and an awful lot of value in one's placememnt during the draft.

since this is a 47 min draft, players like rice and nash and manu are often just as valuable as players like garnett and duncan. in a 47 mil league, mins are at a premium, and having a somewhat limited player pool for the bench, i don't really see where the quality of players available for a 12th pick, or a 20th pick and a 3rd pick differ to a great extent.

but im happy to put u on a waitlist, and am looking forward to the blind draft. thanks for your consideration.

chester smailed me and is leaning towards pulling out of the league due to his banishment in the forums from wis admin. yeah, he would definately need access tot he forums if he is going to be involved in a draft. we are thinking about creating a new username for him, and/or submitting a ticket to admin to allow him access during the draft. either way, i think we can recitify this situation.
