Build-A-Bear I Topic

For those worried about prep time and draft timetable:

As is stands right now, we aren't on any clock, so please take as much time as you need before making your pick. If you're not ready immediately, don't rush into a decision. Hopefully with only two rounds, we shouldn't need a time clock. If things do slow to a halt, I had planned on a four day draft with 12 picks a day. I'm already stepping on genemock's shoes here, so I'll let him call the shots on setting an actual date. Just wanted to let you know there is a loose plan in place.

Answering Jtpsops's question (with a maybe), I think genemock has sitemailed the first three owners?

My two cents is that because Vermont players are mandated does that not also exempt them from the no pitchers prior to 1950 rule. I think that would be the easiest solution to include them. Also I noticed the quote that someone could pick another Maddux year if one is drafted. I assume that person is insinuating a person's draft is specific to 1 year of that player. My interpration is if I draft Buddy Biancaalana nobody else can draft him in any capacity, is this true?

I also feel that the gold glove short stops should be exempt from the 22sb 22 hr rule as they are also mandated to be on the roster. Just my opinion.

Correct.

For my two cents, all the Vermont players should be declared off limits for the draft. By the way, just looking at all the rules, these teams have the potential to really suck.

hey gang, lots of discussion while i was gone...

for starters when teal_leo proposed this to me behind the scenes we had discussed more than two rds. but figured two was best because it would just add variety and a certain level of fun. i was concerned about people getting into more than what they bargained for but that doesnt seem to be the prob.

we are not on the clock and we wont be thru superbowl weekend

i think we can get a certain amt of picks done esp since nobody can trade their picks.

specific players that we all must have are exempt from 22sb/22hr rule, because i did state early on you cant add a rule that changes a preexisting rule. as for the vermont players i cant imagine that more than three from that list will be taken, but if we get close to losing all of them we will make sure at least one remains.

im glad everyone is enthused for this so lets just enjoy the zaniness of it!

Ted Williams, Teddy Higuera, Brian Hunter, Rob Deer, and Babe Ruth are not allowed to be drafted.

you may draft any cub, gold glove SS, player from any other nominated category as they do not name any specific names. i really dont think the vermont crew will have any big game changers

i see most of the picks being the few remaining topline players, starting pitchers post 1950, bullpen help, gold glove SS's

as long as we all have lousy teams i think itll be fun!

Agreed..."lousy" teams or not, we're all in exactly the same boat, so no one is at a disadvantage.

for what its worth, there are only 10 players that qualify for the RP rule. most of them blow. I also agree that vermonters should be off limits for drafting as should RP listers.

ok gang

here is what i did ...i have a league # to help you build your team...mlb88686

i put a dummy team in that i will pull once my real team is selected...do not enter a team into this league but use the # to help draft as i blacklisted all HOFer except ted and babe...plus MANY but NOT ALL mitchell report players

when using a search you can narrow down to no more than 22 HRs but you can only do SBs in increments of 10, so use either 20 or 30...this # is only to be used to help you set up your team...now im off to watch LOST...back at midnightish...

Must the RP relief pitcher be listed as a relief pitcher in the database or can you take a starter and pitch him in relief.
2/2/2010 6:40 PM
take any pitcher with initials RP but they cannot start a game
2/2/2010 6:44 PM
Yeah, leave the starting to that cocky 20 year old, Babe Ruth.
2/2/2010 6:52 PM
I bet I screw up at least two rules before my roster gets approved. Especially if there's Scotch involved while I'm making my team.

Thank you for setting that up! When the time comes, are you planning to check rosters through sitemail before we enter?
