Two 'A' schools (defined as lower 1/3 in enrollment) are still playing. Newport (565 students) is making their 1st appearance since 1962.
In the lower bracket is Shelby Valley (599 students). At #5, they are the highest ranked team in the lower bracket. This is the 6th appearance for Shelby Valley since 2002 but they've only advanced to the 2nd round once. Shelby Valley is an Appalachain school. 64% of their students qualify for the free lunch or reduced-price lunch programs.
The largest schools still playing are #1 Louisville Ballard (1689) and Louisville Butler (1650)

Not to diminish their accomplishments, but I guess I was envisioning the enrollment disparity to be greater. (I.E. in the Chicago area there are schools like Stevenson, Lane Tech, New Trier, etc. that have enrollments of 4,000+)
Of course on the whole I'd expect schools with an enrollment of 1,600 to field better teams than schools with an enrollment of 600, but I don't think it's that crazy for a couple of the 600's to at least be in the mix.
