oldave, you have a good point. the teams bing won with tended to be the most talented teams in the country anyway (it was flex, not triangle, btw). but, the rate at which he won championships in a short interval was pretty surprising. i think i found it particularly frustrating, playing him every season (and often again in the NT), with similarly talented teams, with less than similar results. but we pressed, and i think bingball works best against the press of the 3 defenses. along those lines, one reason his strategy was so effective was probably because most of the top teams in d3 tark pressed.

I'm not sure we can conclude anything based on that. A player with a reduced distro will be taking a higher proportion of shots outside of plays, i.e. put backs, breakaways, etc. These shots are higher percentage shots, so that alone could explain the difference in FG%

hmm, yeah, i see what you are saying, hanni... but, to me, that doesnt explain what i am seeing.

i guess i allways assumed that everyone agreed on this basic principle (lower dist= higher shooting%) , but maybe not.

i know ive been wrong plenty of times before, but im pretty confident i know what im talkng about this time. (i think)

oldave - I think you are probably right, I was just playing a little devil's advocate.

I had a couple of games at the end of my NC schedule that I felt were pretty much hopeless so I figured I would give this strategy a try. Plus I was already running flex and my best player is my SG. Didn't get any wins, but the games were a lot closer than I expected. (Wagner in Naismith in case you are interested.)

Murphy's 48 PER is low for a SG but the key is his 82 BH. I think that is equally important to a SG scorer. You need the BH to create shots and even to catch and shoot.

We had a guy in Smith use the 2 player strategy. I had success against him by DT both of them. It helps if they have low PA numbers.
