I think the Hoosier faithful are looking for something, anything positive, on the recruiting front. There have been a few high profile locals that Crean has missed out on. And the followers of the crimson and cream can't believe all 5-star recruits don't want to attend Indiana. Next season's recruits really aren't even up to a MAC standard school.

That's a bit of an exaggeration. Indiana has two Top-150 players coming in next season (according to Rivals). Total number of Top-150 players that have committed to MAC schools: Zero.

If Crean doesn't make the tournament next year, is there going to be talk of getting rid of him? I really have not payed any attention to the situation.

Dunlap wont even be considered for the Oregon job.

I don't care how much someone "loves" their job or enjoys working in their hometown, if you are offered a raise of almost 5x your current salary...

I love the ignorance of the talk about the crappy PAC-10. 09/10 was definitely a down year for the PAC, but look at 08/09 and 07/08. Right up there as the best or 2nd best conference in the country. Just because the ESPN propoganda machine promotes the Big East and ACC doesn't mean hoops out west is crap.

NCAA tourny performance was pretty good.

The Big East definitely appears to be overrated. If you look at Sagarin's conference ratings for the past 10 seasons, and take a 10-year average, the Big East ranks 5th amongst the Big 6 conferences (just a hair behind the Big 12 and Big Ten, who are essentially tied). The PAC-10 ranks 6th, a significant ways back of the Big East. The ACC is 1st by a fairly wide margin, with the SEC being 2nd.

Indiana class of 2010 produced 2 top 100 players. Deshaun Thomas, ranked between #6-#18 went to Ohio State. Terence Jones, ranked #46 by Rivals went to Purdue. The third ranked player, Russell Byrd was ranked just outside the top 100 and is going to Michigan State.

That's 0/2, or 0/3 if we count Byrd for 2010.

Indiana class of 2011 is a strong one. It looks like around 7 top 100 overall. #2 over Marquis Teague is down to Kentucky/Louisville. #10 Michael Chandler is going to Louisville. #49 Ryan Taylor is also going to Louisville. #68 Darwin Davis is headed to Xavier.

That's 0/4 on the 2011 committeds.

There also appear to be three additional top 100 from the state of Indiana that are undecided; Branden Dawson #16, Cody Zeller #35, Jeremiah Davis #40.

I think there's pressure on Crean to at least land one of those three remaining. He should be able to promise them all the playing time they can handle.

Cody Zeller is not that good...

But you do bring up a vaild point Iguana but you are takling about just in-state recruits - I have not looked at their classes at the time of posting this but does it really matter who you recruit if you win? I will take a look at his classes later and see what i really think but He has recruited some solid players that have shown promise his first few years, they were just young and injury plagued this year and last.

I can't believe that people are already talking about tossing Crean. That program was in horrible shape when he took it over-- he's pretty much had to start from scratch and has only been there two years. Unbelievable.

Remember that his 2009 recruits were mainly guys that followed him and had been recruited by him while at Marquette (Creek, Watford, Jones).

Getting this Indiana job was supposed to open the flood doors on the 5-star recruits into Bloomington. Many Hoosier supporters veiwed the program as still being one of the Elites.

I'm just saying, Crean's recruiting hasn't been equal to the other BigTen teams, let alone to a program viewed locally as an Elite. Louisville is still coming into Indianapolis and getting the top talent.

Time will tell how patient the boosters are even if Indiana plays .500 ball next year. Crean's a heluva PR guy.

This article from WRTV in Indianapolis says Stevens currently makes about $400,000. In another article, I saw the figure $350,000 quoted, but I can't find that one.
