He knows everyone knows he stole it. I just didn't know where.

Do you prefer Pete Twinkle or Greg Stink?

Does eeyore say that to all the boys?

Is Marvin Carpenter a viable ML starter, long-term?

I didn't think so initially, due to his weak pitches, but he pitched well at every level and has now been a relatively effective ML starter over 10 starts.

I've never even heard of them.

He may.

Carpenter would never get the opportunity to pitch in the bigs for me. His effectiveness in the bigs has to be SSS.

SSS?

Small Sample Size. Your guy has been pretty good over 71 innings. Maybe it's been match-ups, great D behind him or just plain luck. I don't see how he can maintain it with 60/54/28 pitches.

Is there any level of Splits/Control that would let you look past poor pitches? He projects to 78/75 Splits (although I doubt he makes it that far).

I was never going to move him to the bigs, but tomhighway tried to throw him in a trade to even it out, and then another guy did as well a week later. This made me re-think him a bit and notice how well he had done at every level of the minors so I decided to give him a shot while I waited on a couple of my better minor leaguers to develop.

In my 60+ seasons, I can't think of a single player with a best pitch of 60 who was an effective BL pitcher for an extended period of time. Of course, I can't honestly say I draft and develop pitchers like that. I'd probably give an 80 control/splits guy a shot with pitches like that in relief. But, if he started slow, I'd move him quick.

It's Hitler's birthday. Do you forsee any jackassery from the moron element today?
4/20/2010 10:30 AM
I think it would be naive to not expect something.

Ok, I've seen this movie before. The Whiny *******, 73-51, 8 games ahead of the next closest team for the last wild card spot, 6 games out in the division. How many games out of the playoffs do they finish?

What kind of jackbooted douchebag keeps track of Hitler's birthday?
4/20/2010 11:57 AM
I'll answer that, then the question.

When we got engaged to be married on Apr 22, a good, yet bizarre friend of mine said "Hitler's birthday is the 20th. Aren't you worried that you'll be infringing on the celebrations with your marriage?"

Ever since then, the 20th of April is "Oh ****. Hitler's birthday. I need to get an anniversary present"

What would you suggest for a 21st anniversary that doesn't break the bank?

Canucks who've spent a couple of years in the slammer.

If I suspend reality for a moment and pretend a woman would stay with you for 21 years, I have to ask myself a question. So, since I'm forced to believe you've had her locked in the basement for at least 19 years, I think a day in the sunshine would be nice for her.
