I am in Phelan Division 2, so while the home-court letter grades may be lower than Division 1, there would still be some correlation. My team is one of the best this season, easily top 5 and the only game we lost thus far was at home. From the Division 1 perspective and the highest HCA of the elite schools, it does appear to be a problem in Division 1. The lower divisions seem to be okay from my perspective.

I am in the MAC conference in IBA, and we were ranked I believe 9-10 last season as a conference. We picked up 1 new coach this season, and we have fallen to 24th? Like what the hell is that, we have the same coaches, yea we have SIM's but how were we ranked so high last season.

I believe our RPI's & SOS's are all whacked, as well as some of the results,

Just look at my team +2 lose by 21, +13 lose by 51, +1 lose by 27.

Those are just some examples the first 2 games were to teams not much better then me that I can see, and the other, was to a ranked team.

I just don't get it

Competitive games by competitive teams. What's not to get?

Man, yous guys can drive a brother crazy. On the one hand, alot of you say you want realism. On another hand, you say you want closely matched teams to play competitive games. Which is it???
6/6/2010 9:27 AM
well, I certainly don't think that I am 26 points better than the best team in our league when I played them at our place last night.

I haven't seen a huge change in D2. Went 8-2 non-conference with 2 home losses to good teams and a road win against a decent team.

For what it's worth, put me in the camp that suspects the HCA is significantly too powerful, especially for high-grade HCAs. Hopefully, seble gets this worked out quickly.

Losing by 21, 51, and 27, when you are only a 2 point underdog is not a competitive game in my opinion, if I am missing something please let me know

oldresorter, sorry, I wasn't knocking on your rather large sample. I just was stating that HCA didn't seem to me as strong as some people were making it out to be.

If you've seen the other threads, the blowouts I'm seeing are a function of the much higher rate of fouls and much higher rates of FTAs. The teams getting blown out usually have a huge disparity in their FTAs compared to the winning team. I've said there repeatedly that those games wouldn't have been blownouts in the old engine.

CS has said they're tracking the FT disparity but think that it's a function of unathletic teams still trying to run the press.
BINGO!
