Guzman is playing 2B and hitting .300. Aside from Utley I cant think of another 2B in the NL off the top of my head. Again I do not pay the NL much attention.
Phillips, Uggla, Weeks, Prado, Kelly Johnson from the Dbacks are all much better than Guzman.

I didn't realize Guzman switched to 2B this year.  He is still average at best, and his bat is even more intolerable at 2B than SS.  His .300 batting average is a very empty .300.  There is no way he is an all-star.

The Nationals have one of the best 3B in the NL and a young star in Ryan Zimmerman, why are we talking about Christian Guzman?

Dunn won't. He'd be about fifth on the list of potential Nationals: Zimm, Livan, Capps (still the ML saves leader), Guzman would all get looks before him, without even getting into the Strasburg thing. Of course I'm assuming his batting average takes a tumble before rosters are selected... if Dunn's still hitting .280+ in a couple of weeks, he might squeak in.

Jones is doing nothing to warrant consideration over McCutchen. .315/.392/.479 with seven HR and 18 steals, versus .282/.355/.464 with 10 HR and six steals. Jones' RBI are nice but aren't even top 10 in the NL right now.
+1

Capps will definitely be considered as well, and if he's still leading in saves at the break it will be hard to leave him off the team.

I was listening until you said Rickey Weeks.

Oh you mean the Rickie Weeks that is better than Guzman in every single major offensive stat (advanced or traditional) except for batting average and hits?

You cant have Baker saying lets go with who deserves it while the current process allows fan voting (especially on the internet)
Add into this stuff like the Marlins offering a free ticket to any fan who votes for every marlin on the 20 ballots they can fill out and I second this.

I feel strongly both ways.

Dumbasses Morgan and Baker make valid points. To bump a deserving player from a roster spot to make room for Strasburg would not be fair to the guy getting bumped.

On the other hand, nobody gives a **** about the All-Star game, it's just a fairly uninteresting exhibition game. Putting Strasburg on the mound gives the event a little more buzz and might actually create some interest. I'd have a reason to watch, where normally I just tune it out. It might be a good marketing idea for the game.

One last point: what if Strasburg does appear in the game and gets shelled by the AL? What would the reaction be?
You do understand that Joe Morgan has forgotten more baseball than anyone posting on this forum (including me) will ever know, right?

Umm, the point is that he's forgotten it though.

Joe Morgan....Big "M", little "organ".

I suppose, to be fair, we would need to know Timbo McCarver's take on this question.

Baker, the Reds manager, played in two All-Star Games and managed another. He also said that Strasburg hasn't pitched enough to be considered an All-Star. "Is that enough? In my opinion, not yet," Baker said before the Reds played the A's. "He hasn't even thrown 130 pitches in a start yet. Let him do that first and he can be there."

DFB would kill for the chance to ruin a once-in-a-lifetime arm like that.

Cobra have you ever read Fire Joe Morgan.  Read it, you may change your opinion.

Joe Morgan was an incredible baseball player, but he's an idiot.

I'd start at the first page of their archive and work forward

6 starts doesn't make an all-star appearance. Not when the rest are pitching more than double that. He's hasn't even pitched enough to be on a leader board.
