MG - 3 in S15(1st season), 2 in S16, none in S17-S18
Coop - 2, 3, 1 with the 4th season being voted on now

There's a definite problem with getting deserving players in.   The biggest problem is indifference.  I think, if given more time to vote, more players would be voted in.  Allow voting until the A/S game.  Owners are working on their teams in the pre-season.    If they're like me, they look, cast their votes for the obvious and move on to building their team.   That means I cast 2-3 votes.

I posted this in another thread on HOF voting last week.  I've slightly amended it here.  I'd like to here some comments on whether it has any merit, and if not, why not?

================================================================================================

How about this:

1)  Keep the nomination process as is.  A combination of automatic AI nominations, along with user nominations.

2)  At the end of the nomination period (when ST games start), SIMMY names some HOF electees.  Anywhere from zero to five.  Maybe all the AI nominated guys are elected.

3)  What we currently have as the voting period during ST now becomes a combination voting/veto period.  Ten vetos for any SIMMY electee shoots him down.  Ten votes for anybody else on the ballot gets them in.

Bumping, for my brilliant suggestion from nine months ago.

I think acomplishments should give players credit for a vote and then just leave it the same.

For instance:

MVP/CY Young:  .5 votes
AS/ROY:              .25 Votes
SS/FOY:              .25 votes

Then if your guy went to 8 all star games, won 4 Silver Sluggers and won 2 MVPs he would already have an automatic 5 votes before voting begins. It would help more players get in as well make sure the right people get in.

You can't do credit for World Series rings for credit because then the 25th guy who won 3 rings would get automatic votes

This is a great suggestion I think. Also, even though the last update helped as far as loading times and making the whole HOF suck much less, there is still much room to improve. I still see 75% of the players who were nominated have no business being there... some guy with a 7 season career, with a career 891 hits, 102 home runs, a career .268 hitter and was a mediocre fielding 3B has no business being nominated for the HOF. As others have suggested there needs to be some kind of statistical floor or a certain number of career awards a player must have won before he can even be nominated. Less crappy players to wade through= more owners voting (I think)

And while we're talking about the HOF, lets get the player card to list their main position they played in their career, not their retirement position of 1B or LF or RF.

Yes.

I think you should do away with the owners nominating for the Hall of Fame. Just use the AI nominated players. Maybe upgrade the qualifications for AI.

I've actually had the same thought emrod, that would do away with the time consuming nomination process and also make it so you wouldn't have those crappy players nominated to the HOF.

I agree that part of the problem is the nomination process.  I have come up with a few thoughts on how to help voters in the process:

Create higher minimum requirements for a player to be considered for nominations – either AI or owner nominated.  It is just too much to provide a listing of 150 players and let owners nominate.  Too many of these players have no business being considered for the Hall of Fame and just add noise to the process.  I am thinking you could create two tiers of tests.  The first tier looks a minimum for playing time and the second tier for career accomplishments.  For example, the first tier for a hitter must meet a minimum number of average games played per season, average at bats person season, average hits per season, etc.  Once these minimums are passed, you can then move to a second tier of minimum requirements.  For example, a hitter must be ranked as one of the top 50 players in at least one category from a listing of career hits, homers, RBI’s, average, slugging PCT, OPS, fielding percentage etc.

Next, put a player’s career into context for the voter.  A listing of player profiles with their stats is okay.  However, the voter has a hard time determining how these players rank relative to their peers and determining their place on an all-time stat’s lists.  The current analysis provided by only gives the top five players in the league’s history.  The best one can do right now is look at all-star appearances and awards.  It would be nice if the career stats were given context.  For example, show the player’s ranking for all-time stat’s.

I like remedy suggestion A.

I have often thought maybe owners could discuss/debate in WC and then once the guys are settled on by that discussion, all owners could vote accordingly.

MAKE IT SIMPLE...LET THE AI ELECTED HALL OF FAMERS....not enough people pay attention...THE AI VOTES FOR ALL STARS...MAKES NO SENSE NOT TO ELECT HOF
