Obviously was a JUCO or transfer.  Maybe he played a combo defense somewhere, or maybe one is HS, one is his first school, and one is from CMHMS.  Not too hard to fathom...  Good example of a guy with a high overall who isn't an incredible player, though.  At least offensively.  He can guard anybody in D3...  And it's not like he can't score, but his offensive numbers are nothing to write home about and it doesn't particularly surprise me...
not... sure... if.... serious...
I'm completely serious jones...  Look at his line.  Regardless of schedule, scoring 14.9 PPG on 44/39% shooting with 2.7 assists and 1.7 turnovers per game isn't the kind of out-of-this-world scoring that people who focus heavily on overalls might expect from a D3 player over 700.  Your center, who is a 573 overall, has had a more efficient offensive season.  And I'm pretty sure that given your choice, with his athleticism and speed, you would have preferred him to have his BH and Per swapped.  Would probably make him a better scorer.  Or if some of that Per went into LP. He wasn't an All-American, not even an Honorable Mention.  This despite the fact that he's the 12th-highest overall-rated player in Knight and the highest rated PG.  Which doesn't mean I wouldn't rather have him on my team than some of the guys who do get those awards...  But remember narcotico's guard who won all the votes for best D3 player in the new engine a little while back?  He was only in the 660s, but he blew your guy away.  Overalls are misleading because of WE and durability and everybody theoretically knows that but we're still a ton of posts into a thread about an 800 overall and if that's what a new person sees coming into the forums for the first time and they don't see any mitigating posts it could be misleading...
ok, so now that i know you are serious, i will tell you why you're wrong.

you have to be KIDDING me with some of the terminology your'e using, they're all misleading stats. you're talking about AA / honorable mention? WHO CARES? it's a cosmetic award, i went 35-0 in phelan last season and i didn't have any AAs. no one cares about those stupid awards. the best teams will almost always be so balanced that they have distro set up so that everyone can score efficiently. this guy was my THIRD option. next year, he'll be the unquestioned #1, so he'll probably average 30 ppg because i won't have a great offensive team outside of him. also, he started the year with his IQ in the B range, and im not comfortable giving someone like that too many looks.

i can't believe you're talking about overalls with me, i know overalls are misleading, but john brown has his ratings in all the right places. are you serious? can't you look at him? the two most important ratings in this engine are ath and def-- he's elite in both. he's got great bh/per, solid passing, he's a tremendous ft shooter... AND he's going to get like 3 or 4 rebounds a game for a guard.. his WE is good and will help get him close-ish to his caps next year probably, after he improves a ton in the offseason.

wow, i can't believe i bothered to respond to that, but rest assured that if brown started the year with better IQs, or if i didn't have two other good offensive options, he would have scored 20 a game or something and you would ahve been impressed by those numbers. either way, he's not a lock to get to 800, but he probably will by my estimation, and if not he'll get damn close.

I'm not ever going to be impressed by scoring numbers...  His percentages are nothing special.  If more volume of shots had any effect it would be to lower them...  And since when is 67 BH great?  I'm pretty sure you know you're spewing bs in half of that post and trying to get me to buy it since you have more experience than me...  But I'm not going for it.

are you serious bro? he's got 67 bh and he'll probably get to 80 next year since he came in at high his junior year.

he's going to be 80/80 in speed, ath, that is EXCEPTIONAL for d2 (i know i got rangz), and he's a freakin d3 player.

his %s aren't good because he probably faced double teams and because his IQ was marginal throughout the year.

open your mind

Dude, I'm not saying he's not good.  But apparently the revelation that he's not crazy dominant on the offensive end is too much for you?  Even though the evidence is right in front of you?

im going to bump this thread in 25 days when he averages 25 ppg on 50% from the field, mebbe 40% from three, and mebbe 81% from the ft line.

just for lolz.

I look forward to that.

I had a player that finished at 759 last year, but he had 100 DUR. I don't even know why they have DUR in this game. Injuries are very rare. I think there should be more.

I'm bumpin this for ya jones

The 50% from the field didn't come close to happening but the 40% from 3 did and he shot almost 88% from the line. He was pretty efficient scoring 1.34 points per shot, but that's not out of this world or anything. But his 4.7 rebounds and 3apg from the SG position is really impressive as is only 2.7 TOs a game playing that many minutes with such a heavy distro.

he is not dominant on the offensive end, only 25 ppg on over 60% true shooting, LOL

he only got to 769 somehow, sad, he had the potential to get well into the 800s, but with 25 mpg last year and 32 this year AND a rs year, not much more i could have done to get the most out of him. oh well.

god looking back on this i can't believe this guy was talking ****. this is actually the best d3 guard of all time, right?
3/11/2011 12:26 AM
Lol, I wouldn't go that far. I had a guy on Fitchburg team dominate even moreso than Brown from a scoring stand point. Shot something absurd like 54% while averaging 27 a game, although he did not rebound anything like Brown. I think had you gotten Brown as a freshman and his IQ got up to A+ he'd be up there but instead he's just a great D3 guard but not the best. Maybe if he does a Danny Manning and carries you to a title then he might enter the convo.

Well, the guy I posted is on pace to finish at 780, and that's w/o a RS year. Had a horrendous first 3 games and I didn't feel like loading up his distro to the 30s, because I got  another great offensive weapon in the starting 5.
