17 sets of predictions in.  Keep 'em coming.  It's really interested to see all the variability.  So far, no team has been picked to finish both 1st and 16th, but there is one team picked to finish 1st and 15th and another picked to finish 2nd and 16th.  I can't wait to post the results.

Reminder
1st Deadline - Friday, March 11:  4 teams entered
2nd Deadline - Friday, March 18:  8 teams entered
Final Deadline - Friday, March 25:  16 teams entered

The penalty for being late is 1 win per late roster per day after the deadline. The penalty will be waived if you get all 16 rosters in on time. But if you accumulate 10+ penalty points, I reserve the right to find a replacement from the waiting list.  (The penalty will not effect playoff determinations - it will only effect the partership point totals).

I thought it was interesting to see the difference, for some of the franchises, between what I'd imagined the depth of their talent would be at a particular position or group and what the sim seems to think of it.

In general terms, you can sometimes get an idea of a franchise's relative weakness or strength during a particular era by the players that you're looking at when you make your teams ... or maybe more by the eras that don't have players you'll consider.

Oh: for our team, neither of us had preferences, so I simply ordered the teams by (current) nickname and "dealt" them out, so we each got 4 AL and 4 NL teams.

bigmc and I had a draft for teams.  I gave him the choice of picking 1st or 2nd/3rd.  He let me have first pick.  Here's how the draft went...

schwarze:  Yankees
bigmc:  Red Sox, Cubs
schwarze: Giants, A's
bigmc: Dodgers, Braves
schwarze: Cardinals, White Sox
bigmc: Indians, Twins
schwarze: Phillies, Pirates
bigmc: Reds, Orioles
schwarze: Tigers

Of the 93 teams entered in my 8 leagues, I've checked rosters for players on 100% of teams (must be same year).  We're down to only 25 players total (including 7 on one team).  This number will surely go down once all teams are entered and I include the teams in bigmc's leagues.  The final number will probably be under 10.  Some real surprising omissions on some teams.

I think it all depends on strategy.  I won't get into specifics, but any pitchers or hitters over $13mil in salary start to have a big ripple effect over the rest of your roster, especially if you include a couple.  That's my experiences so far, anyway.  Some franchises, I decided it was worth it...others, I decided to avoid some big guns and go with a more balanced approach.

bigmc sent me the rosters from his leagues, so now I have a complete list of the 187 rosters submitted so far.  There are a combined total of 8 players (must be same season) that are on every single roster submitted so far.  Five are hitters, two are relievers and only one is a starting pitcher.

The most different number of seasons used by a single player is 7.  And it's not Babe Ruth or Ted Williams, each who have 6 different seasons selected.

If you remove season for the equation, the number of players taken 100% of the time is 27.  The Cubs and the Yankees are the only two teams that do not have a player taken 100% of the time (even when season is removed)...
