PROOF THAT CHARA'S PUSH ON PACIORETTY WAS INTENTIONAL:

habsonlinetv.blogspot.com/2011/03/proof-that-charas-hit-on-pacioretty-was.html
He/She posts the videos after this to show the validity of each accusation:

I just had a few facts that I think we're not taken into consideration when the decision was made to not suspend Chara for the incidents during Canadiens vs Bruins game on March 8th, 2011. I have reason to believe the incident was premeditated and here is why:

January 8th, 2011 Pacioretty scores an overtime winning goal and gives Chara a small shove. Chara over reacts and try to get at him, Gill intervenes.

Febuary 9th, 2011 Chara attacks Pacioretty during a small brawl. He gets on top of him and keeps hitting him while no one can pull him off. In the same game Chara tries to injure him with a slash to the calf.

March 8th, 2011 Chara almost kills Pacioretty.

I must add that before the game he was interviewed and said "Ive been playing very well against Boston and I know I have a target on my back"

You'll need to scroll over the above to see it.

This oughta last, what, the standard two weeks?

Knowing the NHL..that's about right. So long as Bettman is the Commish, nothing of any real meaning will be done about it.  Oh they "might" fix the arenas etc, but not after a fair bit of debate and maybe several dozen meetings etc etc etc..  And they might agree to 'look into the problem' during the offseason (again)....

Where is the NHLPA in all this..one member almost got killed and the other is now under a very large microscope.. and they stay silent?  You'd at the very least think they'd speak up about fixing the arenas and defending Chara (whether he actually deserves to be defended or not..).    Instead their silence is rather LOUD.   Nice to know those union dues are not being wasted...  Geez the P.M. as said more about this than they have...  How sad...

The league better not F this up now.

If they suddenly take away boarding from the D-men... coaches must already be irate.

And now we'll see even MORE forwards trying reckless, dangerous plays near the boards.

If this is not a two-week thing, and they stop calling boarding again in the future, you'll see guys start getting blown up again.

Playoffs are coming.  Intensity and hitting are going to rise.  Might be a parade to the penalty box.  Team with best PP wins.

Depends on your definition of boarding. The boards have always been used; what wasn't allowed prior was to slam someone into the boards.

Angles, hips, clutching and grabbing, etc.

Good article. Well thought out opinion; or, rather, what winnie would call "proof".

Love the comment "they should stop wearing helmets". Yea. I'm sure Bill Masterton would be on side with that.
3/11/2011 9:15 AM
If you ditched the helmets, it would take a generation to un-learn the adopted behaviours which come from wearing a helmet.  Scores of guys in the current generation would die in the meantime.

This is kind of the same thing football is dealing with.  In football, the problem is that players hit with their heads.  If you took the helmets off, they'd stop doing it.  But one article I read pointed out that taking the helmets off football would change the game and the look of the game in such ways that it would no longer identifiably be football.

This is why I rail against the speed.  People who buy into the fastest game on earth thing, fine.  But if you want it to be "safe" you can't play it the way it's being played.

Let's be honest here, where this is all going is, HOW MUCH HITTING WILL HAVE TO BE TAKEN OUT OF IT?

3/11/2011 9:49 AM
The hitting will just be different.

Players used to not wear helmets and had thin padding, and they hit. They just hit differently

Chara got called for a boarding.  He hit Montador 15 feet away from the boards.  Montador slid across the ice and ended up on the end boards.
