If you're havin' drain problems I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems, but groin staples ain't one..

Round two of our draft vs. the Master Draft:

          PG                                                                                          SG                                                                             SF
26           D Rose        undrafted                                        28    T. McGrady            1
27       J Stockton       9                                                      32     J Irving                  5
34       M Ginobili         22                                                    40  S Pippen               2
35        P Pierce          21

       PF                                                                                            C
25        K Malone      6                                                        29     D Mutumbo     13
30      S Marion          17                                                      36     B Walton        12
31       B Russell         22                                                     38     M Daniels       21
33        T Duncan      8
37       T Murphy        16
39       H Olajuwon     13
41        K Love              24

So far I would conclude:

1. We are still hammering out the elite Guards.
2. The position eligibity in Master Draft distorted things more than we gave credit for.

I think the groin staples where just ripped out

that's kind of sad, living with that much unfounded hate cant be good for you

also has anyone noticed what happened to most board hoarders defensive ratings-wise? looking at it I have to say Mel Daniels seems to have moved closer to the head of the class than he was pre-changes

yeah it's a new ballgame. Even though I love DWade as soon as I took him I wished I had gone w/ Ben Wallace or Mutombo - their overall skill set (low usage, great boards, great D) is now extremely rare. Sure enough, neither made it back to me.

I like Duncan - he remains elite defensively - but now I need a lot more rebounds and my first two guys are pretty expensive. gonna be interesting

you're comparing apples to oranges, robo... a better snapshot would be taking position players in the odl and comparing them to the position players in the master draft. the way you are doing it, my friend, the gap will continue to widen the further we go along in the odl.

you should list pg, sg, sf, pf and c in the odl, and then make comparisons. i think you'll find both leagues are similar, with a few exceptions.

There is one old staple in the league that ended up having his D-rating drop ten-fold, I am more curious to see if he gets selected with the huge change.

was it nater?

it was, I originally had a plan to take Ray Allen and a point guard, but making sure that I have two solid guys on the boards just made sense. I'll take the hit on defense with it.
5/5/2011 5:21 PM

1) xxevilivexx - Michael Jordan, Swen Nater, Elvin Hayes
Not bad but I don't care for Elvin.  Careful with your salary coming up.

2) sappy - Moses Malone, Gary Payton, Ray Allen
Love every piece here so far.

3) tricky24 - Charles Barkley, Robert Parish, Reggie Miller
eFG over defense so far.   Chuck & Chief are great.   Reggie...dunno.

4) robocoach - Dennis Rodman, Wes Unseld, Steve Nash
Has filled rebound and passing roles very well and many scorers are still  around.   Like it so far!

5) ncih - Lebron James, Dirk Nowitzki, Terry Porter
Offensive powerhouse that may overwhelm a even a great defense.  Dirk deserves better than his current D rating.  Much better.

6) banditone - Kevin Durant, Jerry Lucas, Drexler
Could use more defense.  Offense is covered.

7) jakotay - Wilt Chamberlain, Buck Williams, Kevin Johnson
Another strong team.  I like Buck off the bench personally.

8) dh555 - Magic Johnson,  Kevin Love, Donyell Marshall
Donyell is a winner, as is Magic.  We'll see how KLove does against the premier bigs!

9) badja - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Scottie Pippen, Penny Hardaway
Low on rebs so far, but solid inside out scoring.

10) malone9975 - Artis Gilmore, Olajuwon, AK
Damn scary so far.  Maybe a little foul/to trouble, but def makes up for it.

11) felonius - Jason Kidd, Mel Daniels, Elton Brand
Terrific.  Was hoping Elton would slip under the radar.

12) sweg - Kevin Garnett, Troy Murphy, McAdoo
A good backcourt will make this a tough team to beat.  Why Murphy over KLove though?

13) all3 - Shaquille O'Neal, Bill Walton, Mike Miller, Clifford Ray
eFG, rebounds and usage are covered plus Miller gives you great assists, too.  Great so far!

14) jcred5 - Larry Bird, Paul Pierce, Shawn Kemp, Oakley
Another very solid contender.  Sheesh these teams are good!

15) eleibowitz - Dwight Howard, Manu Ginobili,  Deron Williams, Okafor
Good rebounding at all spots and high eFG.  Plus 3's....

16) tarheel1991 - Dwayne Wade, Timmy D, Marcus Camby,  Blaylock
Camby completes the team so far.

17) scudmissle - David Robinson, Dr. J, Marques Johnson, Horace Grant
Damn!  I mean damn, scud.    eFG, boards, fta's and defense.  Possibly a little high in salary, but you can get filler guys to even it out.   3's off the bench to come?

18) empdenied - Oscar Robertson, Bill Russell, Carlos Boozer
Drebs by the ton and now some nice scoring.  Boozer got hammered by the d ratings though.

19) 98average - Chris Paul, Shawn Marion, Zelmo Beaty, Dunleavy Jr.,
What's not to like?

20) coachcroft - Kobe Bryant, Deke Mutombo, Larry Nance, Peja
Kobe is really a great sim player who I thought very hard about taking-there is no reason not to love this guy.  Nance and Deke work very well with him.  Peja is an ideal #2 here since you've got plenty of D.

21) mikee1 - Ben Wallace, Tracy McGrady, Kevin Willis, Cedric Maxwell
Monstrous post duo with Kobe-like scoring.  Add a low usage guy that doesn't miss.  Nice

22) ljemd - Nate Thurmond, John Stockton
I thought about taking Stockton in the first.  The complete package.  Thurmond could be a very poor man's Russell.  You need some scoring.

23) bsmuke - Fat Lever, Derrick Rose, Bellamy
Would like some higher eFG here.  Def is low as well.

24) captainzen - Chauncey Billups, Karl Malone, Boerwinkle , Brent Barry
Well you've got assists covered!   Barry is great for this cap but I'm surprised you took him here.

5/8/2011 10:55 PM (edited)
Elvin and Reggie were probably mistakes - still some bigs with better impact, still quite a few SGs that can more than Reggie too

an F-ing shame what WiS has done to very solid defender (9th all time DRTG, career average 96), warrior, banger, ROY, MVP and finals MVP (he didnt do it on offense btw) Wes Unseld too - like turning Rodman into Troy Murphy - another heinous atrocity that seble should burn in hell for
5/5/2011 11:10 PM
Elvin's defensive boost and rebound percentages drew me to him. I didn't want to get in a hole with no backup scoring option then having to scrape by later and as for the salary, Nater's salary took a hit via the defensive drop.
