I've not sure I've ever encountered someone as proud of their ignorance as you, swamp.

I know I have never met anyone as isolated from reality as you. Come out of your cocktail party and examine the world as it really is, not as some Professor explains it in a tasteful essay.

Swamphawk,
I take long breaks from this forum because it sickens me the misinformation that spews mostly from your mouth.  Do you forget that the bubble blew whilst your beloved Bush was still in office?  it blew in Sept 2008, Obama took office on Jan 20th 2009.  And the original stimulus package was brought into law in 2008 again before Obama took office.  These are facts that anybody not named Swamphawk admits to because this is true and unrefutable (unless your name is Swamphawk).  Oh, and what exactly was it that blew up the economy in 2008?  The chief reason was de-regulation.  Why is it that Canada wasnt affected by the bubble burst like America?  its because we still have much of our regulations in place.  We were affected mostly because our economy is so tied to Americas, if you guys burp we taste it...

I am no huge fan of Obama, he promised a lot of things, and have only partly delivered on some, and hasnt delivered at all on many of them... but Bush was way way worse of a president, he gave a blank cheque to the worst elements of a civilized society (big oil, car companies, and financial).

Now back to Swamps re-visionist dribble....

What's to be gained by comparing Bush to Obama?  Can't we just say "Obama hasn't been very good for the country" without comparing him to someone else?

If given the choice of an ice pick to the eye or a baseball bat to the elbow, I take the baseball bat to the elbow.   But it still hurts like a son of a ***** so that's damn sure not a good thing.

lol, Im glad that you are comparing Bush to an ice pick to the eye, thats pretty accurate Id say!  :)

Again swamp proudly displays his ignorance.

"I don't need no cocktail party elite, ivory tower perfesser explaining how global economics and esoteric derivatives work to me!"

You are utterly pathetic.

By the way, those same people who are telling you the bubble was mostly the fault of individuals getting in over their heads on mortgages? They've been to more cocktail parties this week than I've been to in my entire life. So not only is your idiotic spew stupid and self-defeating, it's inherently hypocritical. "My ivory tower professors can beat up your ivory tower professors!"

The only thing your hands are dirty with is the bullshit you willingly carry.

There is a lot of personal attacks going on here (ofcourse coming from both sides here), and that really isnt all that conducive to intelligent discourse.  Im not saying that some of the things being said isnt true, I agree that Swamp seems to have no problem whatsoever forgetting certain truths, and glossing over some others, and outright making some things up.  Theres no doubt about these things.

But lets try to stay civil eh?

The further we get away from Bush as President, the less I think of what sort of job he did.

I hope to God I don't feel that way about Obama because I'm not sure I can think less of his term.

Nonetheless, this sort of plays into swamp's "Obama doesn't accept responsibility" claim.   It's not necessarily him but his supporters place blame elsewhere.  Much like you did when you compared Obama to Bush.
5/24/2011 10:31 AM
But seriously Swampy, Id like you to refute any and all of things I said to you 5 posts up from here.  I know that you cant, because its the written truth...  Oh and BTW the blank cheque comment I made is in reference to all the de-regulation that your Bush gave to those industries... Not to say that Clinton didnt de-regulate at all, but theres no denying that the reps de-regulate a whole lot more then the dems do.  And if you think that its not the de-regulations that provided the means for the bubble to burst then you are a simple simple fool.

Mike, the point that I am trying to make at this time is that the bubble burst before Obama came into power so how can you blame him for that?  I certainly blame him for not spending the stimulus money in a smarter fashion.  There are ways that money could have been spent that America would have easily came out ahead by now instead of barely being better off (like now).  And I will tell you what strategy he should have used... instead of giving all that money to the companies that created this situation how about instead investing in small companies at least then the money would have been in circulation!  How about giving a large chunk of it also to low and middle class families where the money would have circulated into the economy too?
Im not saying that none of the money that was given to the big banks and GM made it into the real economy, but precious little of it did.  Theres no doubt that if the money was given to small business and to the affected families and individuals to be spent on important things like mortgage payments and food, and in improving your small businesses productivity and output the benefits would have been both immediate and long lasting!

His job is to solve problems.   Who created them or when they were created isn't of my concern.   THAT'S the point I'm trying to make.

I won't get into full economic policy or solutions but it's naive to think the failure of Big Business is a good thing.   Had banks and automakers been allowed to go under, we'd have fallen into a 1930's depression.

Let me try to respond.

1 I have never denied the bubble burst while Bush was in office.

2 Tarp was passed while Bush was in office. Most of that money was paid back and although it was a bad plan and only helped a little it wasnt a huge drain. The Recovery act, what I call the stimulus was all Obama. This was his attempt to tie left wing social engineering to the recovery. It was a huge stack of money out of the economy and did almost nothing.

3 Ups and downs are a normal part of a global capitalist economy. The whole western world is hurting right now. We went a little farther down because of a real estate collapse that happened in America.

The mere fact that you consider car caompanies as evil entitys shows where you are coming from.

Bush was a good President. He faced disaster after disaster and kept America running. He fought a war to keep us safe and was successful.

I do not have any personal feelings towards Obama. He seems like a good guy and a great family man. He seems to have a solid work ethic and all in all is a stand up guy. He is just a bad president. Can you say the same about Bush?
5/24/2011 3:40 PM
No you cannot say the same thing about Bush! Not a great family man, rotten work ethic and lousy President.
5/24/2011 4:18 PM
I don't give a poop about the 1st.

The rotten work ethic and lousy President can be said for the last 2 idiots.

My point is that Dems are trying to paint a picture that Pubs hate Obama and oppose him based on that hate. In reality it was Bush that was hated by the Dems and everything he did was viewed through the eyes of that hate.
