No, liar, they didn't say Palin didn't represent women.
Actually they said she doesnt represent us as Americans Women.

So from that we can assume that she feels that Palin does not represent women.

I cant believe you went through all the work of poking your head out of your hole for this!

That's a stretch Swamp.

The more reasonable view is to take the Wilsons at their word.  It would be up to you to back up that assumption.  You could be right, but since the assumption is yours, you should be able to provide reasons why that assumption can be valid.

My only problem with all of this is that the Wilsons sold their recording.  Are they (and others) saying that people can't play their purchased copy of recorded music at events, rallies, parties, etc.?  That's probably worth discussion.  Does a painter have a right to tell someone they cannot display their purchased copy at a venue or event of their choosing?

Suppose a photographer shoots and sells a photograph of beautiful scenic countryside.  I'm a business owner; I like the shot, purchase it, and then display it in my lobby.  The photographer hates my company because I'm a not "green" enough corporation.  Does he have a right to tell me where I can display my rightfully purchased item?

The problem, IMO, is that entertainers have a platform and use it for their personal beliefs.  Which is fine EXCEPT the sheep followers feel like the person in the public eye has a valid, informed opinion.   They probably don't.   But you can't tell that to someone who thinks Baldwin is hilarious in 30 Rock.

Can't you say the same about news channel personalities like Beck, O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Maddow and Olberman?  I've heard opinions from all of them that I would not qualify as valid informed opinions and they reach a lot more people than Ann or Nancy Wilson or Alec Baldwin.

Maybe.  They're talking heads with agendas based on personal beliefs, directives from above, ratings, etc, etc. but I like to think they're at least familiar with the subject.  It's their job.   There's no reason to believe that Alec Baldwin takes breaks from calling his 11 year old daughter a selfish pig in order to study the problems with the Greek economy.

BTW, speaking of mis-speaking, Obama got his daughter's age wrong.   Fox made a big deal out of his mistakes, CNN laughed it off as "It's her birthday in a couple of days but it might be a big deal to a 12 year old."

I am not trying to put words in their mouth.

What exactly do you think they meant when they said that?
6/30/2011 2:33 PM
I think they probably meant what you think they meant, but it is only opinion on my part.  I admit I am stretching to get to that.  You don't really know unless you gather context from their statements.  I think most people who are liberal feminists don't believe that there are other valid views and that they are the majority of women, and as such may identify all American women as like them.   But to 'get there from here', we would need context or specific statements.  They may fit that generalization, but we can only guess that.

The Wilsons could very easily be talking only of themselves too.  I'm just not as quick to jump to a conclusion as you are.  I may agree in opinion, but I wouldn't offer that opinion as fact.

There is not jumping to a conclusion, and there is bending over backwards to find an alternate answer.

I think the most resonable exlpaination for there statement is they feel that she does not represent American Women. And that is pretty much what they said.

Who cares what a woman who lacks the self-control to push the plate away says?

6/30/2011 7:59 PM
More important is why would anyone care what 2 people without college educations and no backround in anything but music care about important issues impacting Americans??

Almost as crazy as someone like Matt Damon attacking Sara Palin in a video. He is a nobody that became famous because of his ability to act and the fact that he thinks his opinion is anywhere near as important as a woman like Palin makes me throw up in my mouth a little.

Who cares what a customer service rep from Comcast thinks? Does that stop you from telling the world over and over? Oh I forgot, the Constitution only guarantees free speech for you guys on the right.

When people put my youtube rant against Obama on national TV like they dd for Damon I will stop complaining.

I dont want them to stop talking, I want America to stop listening.

And at least I have a degree in Political Science.

But you're obese.  Have some self-control.

So?  Doesn't give you views any more weight than anyone else's.  I'm just wondering how screwed up is the school that gave you the degree.
