This guy's really D2? Topic

Dac I think you misunderstood that change. Apparently the way the code is written it's hard to change to make guys with 1 ratings increase at a faster rate than they currently do, so what Seble changed was that instead of those guys who would've started with a 1 rating and high potential they would start at 10 with high potential. There were always plenty of guys with 1 ratings and low potential, there aren't or at least shouldn't be any increase according to what the change was supposed to be. What there should be more of is guys with 10 ratings having high potential since most of those guys would've had 1 ratings in the past and then you still have the guys that were meant to start out with 10 ratings.

As I'm looking at these recruits though, I do see that 1s seem to only appear in certain categories for certain positions.  There's a really nice big who becomes less enticing when you notice his 1 bh and 1 pas. Hard to run any offense through that guy, despite his nice potential in LP, unless you love turnovers... a number of guards have 1s in LP, yet LP is vital for layups. So I guess those guys better be set to +2 so they don't shoot inside the arc or they're 1 will really be a downer for scoring...not a fan of the change is all. I guess I'm a minority though.
I have yet to see bigs with low bh turn over the ball alot.
I don't track it all that closely, but I was going from my UCF team in Rupp. I've got 2 centers who are somewhat similar that rotate in and out of starting lineup based on match-ups. Both are jrs. 1 has bh and pas of 1 each, the other has 29 and 33 respectively. For their careers the 1/1 guy averages 1.6 TO/game (.069 per minute) while the other guy avgs 1.0 per game (.056 per minute). Not really conclusive I know...
Is that suppose to be alot. At 0.0625/min (avg between the 2 bigs), it means he avg 2.5t/o per 40min. If you have 5 players with that kind of stats, it means your team avg 12.5 t/o per game. That seems pretty low.

I guess I did misunderstand that then. So basically its an extra step in recruit gen? generate recruits as normal then if a category is high potential give it a minimum start of 10...

Thats how I understood the recruiting chance. All players with 1 but high potential is now 10, so you should see more guys who can grow from 450 to 800.

no, didn't say it was a huge difference, and the sample is too small to show anything really - I just assumed that bh and pas were a factor in determining TOs, and guys with low scores would be worse than guys with higher scores.

"Basically, if a player is created with average or high potential and has a low start rating, the start rating will now be bumped up a little bit. So his max rating doesn't change at all, he just gets a head start on meeting that max. You'll still see guys with lower start ratings have high potential, but you won't see guys with really really low start ratings have high potential. But it's important to know that we're not reducing the amount of potential, just bumping up the start rating."

thx for finding that

ok, but wait again - so that means if a stat started at 1 with high potential, what if it is a low high that is only going to go up 21 points. so now that 1 becomes a 10, but the max doesn't change, right? so the max is still 22? but now its only 12 away, so the category isn't high anymore?

right

Best DII recruit I've had. He helped win 2 NT's for my Wisconsin Parkside team in Tark.

He started at 544 if I remember with a lot of High/Highs.

As of last night, Delta St. really is in the Final Four.  So I was right after all, just way ahead of my time :)

Tough loss, skinfanz36!
