Reliable offense from the post... check.  Great rebounder (especially on the defensive side)... check.  Great defender.  Great at starting the break.  Longevity?  Check.  Multiple mvps, multiple championships... how can I pass up on the all-time scoring leader?  I really wanted to go another position because I know there'll be great centers when it comes back to me... and I really wanted to follow my heart and take someone else... but when it comes down to it, you can't just get much better than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar at pick #7.
Steal-Great pick. Jabbar was unstopable with that sky-hook! What's Lister Doing LOL? Oh yeah, gettin schooled LMFAO!

I also could not agree more with the Kareem pick....the longevity to me is just unreal

He did it when it mattered, he could score down low when you needed it, he could block a shot when you needed it...

And if you wanna get statistical---19 time all-star, 6 time MVP, 2-time Finals MVP, 6 rings

He deserves go to higher than 7.....I have four guys in mind that I hope fall to the sandwich picks...if I get two of them I'll be very happy

Jabbar is easily top 3 C's of all-time!

I was pretty thrown off by the Bird pick at #2.. was sure Wilt was going to fall.
Bird never took a game off, Wilt didn't care as long as he got his stats.  Wilt would get schooled by guys like Kareem, Dream, and Shaq

If the guy i want drops to me I am going to make my compelling argument for why he is a first rounder.

Yeah, Bird's name popped in my head immediately regarding this draft.

Where's ltb cuz this is alot of fun? Can't wait to see what's to cum. Strong statement about Wilt by the way malone but I never saw him play live and never really saw him play in his prime but it would be fun to see these great players play eachother in their primes!

Bird has the respect of every person who ever saw him play and that's a fact and even more respect from his opponents! I can't argue against him going 2nd cuz he's one of my all-time favorite players to watch play. He fought as hard as any and was a winner in every way! He's also the only white boy who will go in the 1st round lol

Kareem and Hakeem would have been interesting match-ups for Wilt, but after one game against him, Shaq probably would have never set foot in a gym again.  Outside of maybe Hakeem, Wilt was probably the most athletic C to play the game (track star and professional volleyball player as well as top 5 All-Time NBA player) , while Shaq was a lazy, fat@ss who mostly just outsized people.  Wilt would have toyed with him on both ends, and enjoyed it greatly.

wait a second...i thought when we drafted our team we were imagining them playing together against the other teams drafted?...if so then you really do need to get specific with what season(s) of the player you are using that you just drafted

if thats not the case and we are just picking guys who had the best overall career then no way am i taking wilt...i would have took magic or kareem

the wilt i drafted is unselfish...is trying hard...and led his team to a title over a team that had just won 9 straight...i want no parts of early ball hog wilt

shaq gets no love around here...mostly just outsized people? did no one watch him play? the man had skill...lazy...yes...but skilled

question: who wins between the 01 lakers and the 95 rockets?....somewhat very comparable...3 point shooting around a dominant big..except young kobe was probably better then older drexler

I'd say you're using them at their best.  There's no question that Wilt was playing his best ball when he won his first championship.  He still had the scoring ability from before... he just learned how to reign it in and play team ball.

"using them at their best"

I had a really hard time trying to figure out when Magic's peak/best season was. Every single season (except his PF one) he was incredible.. I want to say that his peak seasons were from 81-82 to 86-87 but he won the friggin Finals MVP in his rookie season and NBA MVP in 88-89 and 89-90.

I ultimately chose 86-87 because it was his first NBA MVP season and last Finals MVP season. It was also the season when he baby sky hooked the Celts to the grave.

For players who were so good for so long, it's practically impossible to pinpoint one season when they were at the top of their game.

Very sorry to hold things up, dudes.  I was unexpectedly away.  Looking at who's left on the board, I feel an obligation to go with a guy who is far from one of my favorites, but I think a very legit and maybe necessary choice at this point:

Shaquille O'Neal

It should be fun building around him in this league.  I'll add in a specific season a little later today.

ha ha nobody likes Shaq on this site except dh
8/11/2011 5:52 AM
I'm always pretty quick to criticize him on sites like this, but he was a ridiculous physical specimen in his prime and the closest thing to unstoppable in the post I've ever seen.  I may rely shamelessly on Bill Simmons' book in arguing for his ability to hold his own and generally dominate against other all-time greats.

And all3, you've got to lay off the pipe.  Neither Wilt nor Shaq played against someone like the other - someone so big, strong and mobile.  Should be a great, great matchup that will be determined somewhat by which seasons are being used and how the teams are constructed around them.
