20) banditone - Chris Paul, Paul Pierce, Nate Thurmond, Chris Mullin, Bob Pettit, Kyle Korver, Toni Kukoc
I loved the first two picks. Pierce is one of the best 2 guards in the sim and teams with CP3 to give you a killer backcourt. But then you picked Mullin, who is better suited for the ODL, and NOT a legit SF. He's a SG and that means Pierce has to play SF, which ruins all the awesomeness of your first two picks. I can't really hate on Nate anymore since he was so solid for me last season but if you don't use that same season I did then I think it's a bad pick. Bob Pettit? What is he doing here? With CP3 and Pierce(not to mention Mullin) you didnt need anymore usage, especially from someone who shoots so poorly. Korver is another guy you didn't really need since Mullin/Pierce should be playing all of your SG mins, Korver's best position. I'm not liking this team at all, it looks short on rebounds and the usage is all out of whack. But Banditone has surprised before with an unorthodox lineup so maybe he has a master plan I'm not seeing.
19) 98average (2) - Hakeem Olajuwon, Elton Brand, Sidney Moncrief, Kirk Hinrich, Chris Andersen, R Balkman, Dale Davis
lf Ash is the offensive guru of the sim, then 98 must be the defensive guru. He had two great defensive teams last season that went deep in the playoffs and looks to be going for that again this season. This team is really stacked on D. But will it have enough offense? Hakeem can be a shaky #1 scoring option and Hinrich looks to be the only 3pt threat(although the bench could provide more). Assists look to be kinda low as well. The rebounding(should be really good on the oreb) looks to be very good with Moncrief in the backcourt and some combo of Brand/Birdman/Balkman at SF. I love Dale Davis. Such an efficient big who really hits the O glass for you. If this team can score enough points it will be very dangerous. As it is, the defense and rebounding alone should get it in the playoffs.
18) 98average (1) - Gary Payton, Julius Erving, Bobby Jones, Kermit Washington, AC Green, Andrei Kirilenko, Paul Millsap
I could have wrote the same eval for this team that I used for 98s other team. Great defensive team, very solid on the boards(Dr. J is probably the best rebounding guard in the sim), only one real 3pt shooter, and the #1 scoring option can be somewhat shaky. This team has better passing though. Just like the other team, I think this team could make a deep run if this offense holds up. I was surprised AK47 dropped so late in this draft, he usually goes 3/4. 98 must have loved seeing that.
17) jakotay - Kevin Garnett, Jerry Lucas, Steve Nash, Carlos Boozer, Vince Carter, Kevin Johnson, Jayson Williams
Holy sh!t...look at this offense. If too much usage doesn't kill you this is gonna be a monster. Nash/KJ already made it a great passing team but when you throw in all the dimes from KG/Lucas/Carter/Boozer this becomes the drafts best passing team. Good amount of 3s and paint points and you got awesome offensive rebounding for when you do actually miss. Turnovers might be a problem, but that was to be expected when you go for this type of team. Normally I'd say that the Nash/KJ backcourt kills you on the glass but when you have KG playing SF it doesn't hurt you as much. Boozer/Lucas/Williams are all top notch boardmen as well. Poor KG is going to have to carry the defense though. This could be one of the worst defensive squads out there, although the good dreb% and low fp48 should help some. I'm not too sure what to expect from this team. I expect a lot of 145-140 games(assuming you run uptempo...and with this squad how could you not).
16) tarheel1991 - Karl Malone, Scottie Pippen, Walt Frazier, Samuel Dalembert, Ryan Anderson, David Lee, Nick Anderson
I love the scoring setup on this team. Mailman is the clear #1 and should get as close to maxing out his FTAs as possible. Pippen/Frazier are next in line with 3 point support from the Andersons and paint scoring from Sammy and David Lee. Even with no true PG(I consider Frazier a SG) there looks to be enough ast% from the Pippen/Frazier/Malone trio to be ok in that area. Malone always puts your team in an early hole with rebounds but the backcourt should help with that. Sammy/Lee are a good rebounding combo at C as well. Lee is horrible and Anderson/Dalembert are just average but the rest of the defense is pretty good. Overall this is just a real solid squad with no major flaws. I'd be surprised not to see them in the playoffs.
15) sixernuggets (1) - Bill Russell, Dirk Nowitzki, Brent Barry, Jerry West, Clarence Weatherspoon, Wayne Cooper, Todd Day
Well, I like this team a lot better than your other one but feel you made a huge mistake in round 3. Barry is a great player and all but with Dirk at PF I think the best move would be to get a SF who gets offensive boards, scores in the paint and can play defense. Bobby Jones and Ho Grant were both available. Put either of those two with Russell and Dirk in the froncourt and you're on your way to the playoffs. Dirk's poor D would be totally hidden, you'd have enough paint scoring, a great start on assists, 3s, and off to a good start on the boards. Weatherspoon is ok, but he's not nearly as good as those two. The stuff Barry gives you can be replaced easily in any round. I like the West pick, he can guard the other teams top perimeter threat and be a good #2 scoring option to Dirk. I have no idea what you were thinking with the bench picks. You can do waaaay better then those two guys. I don't see this team making the playoffs.
14) sappy - Artis Gilmore, Shawn Marion, Amare Stoudemire, Dana Barros, Mike Miller, Lamar Odom, J.R. Smith
Sappy you son of a *****....I really wanted my boy Amare to be my teams paint scorer. Of course I also wanted to pair him with Walton, who I should have known I wasn't gonna get in the 3rd round. I've gone on before about my sim-crush on Amare so I don't really need to say anything else...he's a beast. I like him between Artis and Marion as well although it sucks Artis doesn't guard PFs. I would have really loved that front line if you backed them up with some low usage oreb%. Instead you went with Odom. I don't get that one at all. You already have Marion to play SF so why was Odom needed? Barros is still one of my favorites but he does hurt you on the glass(you were already behind with Amare) and I don't like relying on him alone for assists. Deron was a much better pick here. With Miller/Smith at SG you have no shot of stopping teams with explosive backcourts. The efg% is awesome and you should shoot yourself into a lot of wins but I think the rebounding and defense might have you missing the playoffs.
13) tricky24 - Dwyane Wade, Dikembe Mutombo, Larry Nance, Chris Webber, Raja Bell, Chris Dudley, Peja Stojakovic
I have a new found respect for Wade after seeing him carry me in the playoffs last season. He can literally win games by himself. After Jordan/James he may be the next best guard to build around. However, I don't like him as the only assist man. Bell can drain 3s and play great D but he doesn't do anything else at all. Webber has one good season I like, but only at SF. Since you already had Nance(kind of overrated as a rebounding SF too) there I don't like the Webber pick. Mutombo is really gonna have to carry this team on the boards. Peja will provide nice shooting off the bench but doesn't help with the rebound or assist problem. The defense is looking awesome(depending on what Webber you use) and you have a ton of blocks. Wade + defense worked well for me last season but I just don't think he has the right supporting cast this time around to get it done.
