Billy - you seem a little agitated - this seems to be an emotional issue for you - I did not mean to hurt your feelings
sorry OR. its not really an emotional issue, but an emotional time. ive been in and out of the hospital for the two days, my grandma is at the end of a long battle with alzheimers. no offense taken or whatever, hope you didn't either. im sure i didn't come across exactly as intended anyway...

take care, as always, i wish you the best

Thanks Billy, I will try this out this season and see what happens. I appreciate all the time an input and explicit detail. We need more coaches here like you who don't mind sharing their knowledge to this degree!! thanks again!
you are very welcome. despite all the ups and downs in my time here at WIS, going from loving the game to not being able to stand to even look at my team... the one single constant is, i always love to talk about it :) so really, the pleasure is all mine.

good luck, let me know how it goes!

Obviously I'm not nearly as experienced as gill or OR, but I will say this: if you're looking to learn more for the long run, overthinking distro will probably help you learn more than underthinking it.  However, if you have a team that's ready to really win right away, the reality is that overthinking the distro is probably going to hurt you more than underthinking it.  If you do it on the most basic level - completely relative to how you evaluate player talent, and then some gentle massaging a few times during the season based on relative player performance - you'll be 98% of the way there, and by the end of the season may stumble into being nearly perfect with your distro.  Whereas overthinking it just a little bit might leave you in much worse shape.
