I don't think Duke hires outside the Duke family.

If I had to guess, based on what I know, Bruce will take a year off. His daughter is a cheerleader at Illinois and I THINK she graduates next year...I think he'll lay low with the family in Champaign til she graduates and then see what happens.

Champaign to Carbondale's not that bad of a drive.
Ive done that drive before but never with the taste of failure in my mouth.

Duke will take the best coach they can get.  I don't believe Coach K was part of the 'Duke family'. He played and coached at Army

I think it's safe to say the Duke "coaching family" is deeper and stronger today than it was in 1980 when Bill Foster left.

Imagine coming off three straight NCAA and top 20 seasons at Duke and Foster leaves Durham for the South Carolina job.

That was also in the early 80's before Duke became the absolute powerhouse it is today. It didn't have the history and tradition that Coach K has built there. I think one of his former players, assistants gets the job when he retires.

Wojo will get the Duke job when Coach K retires. He has already assumed many of the duties of a head coach there now, and in many ways is more of a co-head coach than an assistant

ESPN reports that:

SOUTH CAROLINA will go heavily for Wichita State's Gregg Marshall.  Marshall formerly was an assistant at College of Charleston and the head coach at Winthrop in So. Carolina. He turned down N.C. State last season.

RHODE ISLAND is looking at Jim Christian (TCU). a Rhode Island alum, he led the Horned Frogs to victories over UNLV and New Mexico this season

NEBRASKA  may pursue Dana Altman (Oregon). The former Creighton coach still has a home in Nebraska and A.D. Tom Osborne has been a mentor to him. Other possibilites are  Ben Jacobson (No. Iowa) and John Groce (Ohio).

Central Michigan has fired Ernie Ziegler after 6 seasons. They gave him a 4-year contract two years ago when he was about to sign his standout son.  The son was the leading scorer for the team this year.
