I don't believe you can lose a battle if the kid accepts $10K.  It's a laaaarge value.  But I'm not sure - it's tough to tell, 'cause who compares recruiting battle histories when boosters are involved?

I would listen to Cornipari here. He carries unmarked envelopes with stacks of cash at all times. Never know when you might run into a 5-star kid in a Burger King bathroom.

when in the season do they announce that teams are being investigated? i lost a battle with one of my teams last recruiting cycle and i'd be pretty surprised if the coach didn't use booster gifts...

The "investigation" should be announced after 7 or 8 games, as Mully said.  The penalties, if there are any, should be announced after 10 or 11 games.

I've had nine wins vacated, technically.  If you count the time that I had the wins vacated and my season went straight to hell, I've lost maybe 16-20 games that I wouldn't have otherwise.

That's the sad part about HD - they don't give you a chance to really build up some wins for them to vacate.
