Disappointing increase in vision after a NC Topic

I see.  That explains it then.  Thanks Yatzr.

When vision increases do you lose some on the back end that you are now to good to even want to recruit but gain guys who you previously couldn't see?

no, the window just expands on the upside, doesn't shrink.  at least at D3.

I have noticed that even for teams at lower levels that every team is not able to see all recruits withing their "vision", no matter how far away they are. I have had other teams sign recruits I would have tried for, but didn't show up on my recruit search, even though they were no more highly rated than the ones I could see. So, if the .2% - 20 recruits are all on the higher end you benefit by being one of the few to see them.

I disagree with this.  High vision makes it so that you almost never have to deal with sims when recruiting players.  I never had an easier time recruiting than when I had very high vision in D2 (I think it was like 49 wins in 3 seasons).
Why would you not have to deal with SIMS?
If you used Yatzr's tool you'd understand.
Please Ive been using his recruiting tool a lot longer than you have.

The SIMs obey their school's vision.  There are usually not any SIMs on schools with high vision, so there will be no sims on high vision recruits.
Im almost certain I have one of the highest visions at D1AA. I always have a watch list of 100 of the best recruits I can see. When recruiting starts maybe anywhere from 5-7 of them are undecided. and they are all usually only decent LB's.

My impression was SIMs DO NOT obey their vision cause norbert said somewhere in a 100% filled world, all recruits would be undecided. The less coaches in the world the more SIMs there are on recruits.

SIMs do obey their school's vision.  You don't have to take my word for it.

Quick question if you have the time and are willing to answer it.

Do SIM AI coached teams obey their school's vision when choosing recruits to go after?

Thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg,

Yes, they do - they cannot recruit out of their vision.

4/17/2012 4:10 PM
Norbert's basically right.  In a completely filled world, there would be no SimAI teams to do any "pre-recruiting".   So those recruits will just be sitting there waiting for some love and attention.  Of course, there are could still be a few recruits who might be interested in a high prestige human-controlled school due to the in-season recruiting so it might not be *all* undecideds but you get the point.

But that has nothing to do with whether Sims are able to recruit outside their vision.  I believe, like yatzr and Mr. Customer Support, that they are bound by their vision and have never seen any evidence to the contrary.

Let's put it this way:

Maxed out vision is very nice to have, a luxury, but not necessary.

Rebuilds of long time, terrible SIM teams are possible for a reason.

forget I said anything. The reason why as to why my highly rated recruits all have SIMs on them is because D1A's SIMs are on them. So even though I have players that most coaches from D1AA wont see, the SIMs of D1A would still have the vision to see highly rated D1AA recruits, right?

The high vision recruits that you see are actually the low end D1A recruits, so yes, the D1A SIMs will see those recruits.  The total number of D1A recruits is pretty small compared to the other divisions, so, depending on how many D1A SIMs there are, there will be lots of SIMs on those low end D1A recruits (aka high vision D1AA recruits).  In D1AA, there are apparently plently of mid-tier recruits for SIMs to go after.  I rarely saw D1AA SIMs on my high vision recruits when I was D2.  In fact, there was usually a whole bunch of recruits outside the max D2 vision that went unsigned because nobody in D1AA was going after them.

The greater my vision has been in D1AA the more I see players that will be competed for by lower D1A teams. D1AA vision allows you to see them, and maybe pick up a few lower D1A level prospects. Most of the signings will still be average to above average core level D1AA players below D1A quality.

Are changes to vision more dramatic at levels higher than D3?
I have no idea.  I recruit who I see and don't worry about the rest.

OK.  So you don't know and you don't care?  Thanks for dropping in on the post with your value added.  Carry on.

You - 1

Maybe you should listen to the man.

Just a thought.

Why does it always come down to that?
There are some who are actually interested in this topic, not just interested in board bashing.
Anyways, I'm happy with my results so far.  Quite happy.

Slider = 33
Me = 1 (just started playing)
You = 0 (700 games played)

If you have no interest in this topic just move along please rather than throw stones.

You - Just started playing watered down, user ghost town game.

Me - Played 700 games with old, understood engine with many of the best people to ever play.

You're not special. And I am interested in this topic, why do you think I said maybe you should consider listening to Reid's point instead of bashing him like he's irrelevant.
