Any future updates to HBD or Dev chats going fwd Topic

There was one time where I tried to get to Montreal with friends, but we got our car searched at the border, and one of my friends had a small knife in his suitcase, so we got strip-searched, and my other friend was trying to sneak pot over the border in his underwear.  So we had to turn around.  After we bought a shitton of liquor at the duty-free shop.  So we had to dump all the liquor out on the US side because we were only 19-20....maybe your shirt had that problem.

The current FA process is one of the biggest problems with the game.

Players initial demands have nothing to do with their market value.

It takes logging in 6-8 times a day during the arbitrarily short FA period to compete, giving an huge advantage to those are willing & able to put in time.

There are at least a dozen historically proven auction models. The HBD FA process follows none of them.

Real-time feedback on bids would be a big improvement.  Better than having to log in every 4 hours and another blind guess.

Mocking what they don't understand is what some people do best.
no it doesnt

I don't know about the whole auction thing, but there is some truth in this post.

Feedback would be helpful. I don't see how it hurts or disrupts the game if instead of simply seeing "another team has topped your offer", it actually told you what the new offer was.

Or, if they said right from the get-go that a player was looking for a max contract. It's stupid to have the best pitcher in a world "demanding" 5 years, $8M per, when everyone knows he's about to get the max.

I'm not a fan of the fact that you pretty much have to decide right at the start of FA what guys you want to go after because you know you'll get no feedback and you could end up losing a guy at the last minute and have nothing to show for it but a stack of cash you can't spend. If you don't want to change the FA process, at least allow a little more fluidity with funds/budget transfers.

Who is the "they" you are referring to in "if they said right from the get-go"?

The player's demands are 5 years, $8m per year.  That's what he would sign for if only one person was bidding for him.  Max contract is purely because of market value, even if (a) he's not really worth it, and (b) it's two 'tard owners bidding against each other to drive him up from 5/$40 to max contract.

I'm very satisfied with the way the FA process is. Easily the most entertaining part of the offseason.

The Rule IV Draft and International budgets are outdated. Have not given any thought about how HBD could be brought compliant with the new MLB rules.

Good morning,

A number of folks in the HBD Forums have noticed that it has been over a full calendar year since there has been an update of any kind to Hardball Dynasty. No engine changes, no minor enhancements, etc. It's been over two years since the last HBD Developers chat. There has been little to no feedback by WIS staff in the "HBD Suggestions" forum, to the point where people have stopped making suggestions since they don't seem to be acknowledged.

A lot of people feel that HBD is a "dead" product in terms of any future changes.

Can you let me know if there is anything planned for the future of HBD?

it may be helpful to post something in the forums if there are any future plans for HBD in order to appease the masses.

Thanks,

Bill

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the note. At this time we do not have anything to announce for Hardball Dynasty. When we do it will be posted in the forums.

I love that it took 12 days for them to come up with that response.

I think FA is fine, with one exception.  Contingencies.  As in the real thing, I should be able to offer Pujols and Hamilton contracts at the same time (assuming they're both FAs at the same time).  One signs, the other offer is pulled.  That's not a huge issue to me and it might be hard to code, but it's more realistic and I think it would improve the bidding process.

Allows the owner to drive up the price for two players when he can only sign one.   I'd identlfy 3-4 players I wouldn't mind having, offer contracts that I could tolerate to all and just wait til one signed.   The other three could have artificially inflated prices because of my actions.

It just doesn't work with a cap.
