Magnets don't really work - the earth's magnetic poles work magnets if I understand correctly. 

By the way time is just a fold in space. So if we fold space enough while Addie Joss is pitching, he will release the ball and as it goes through the folded space-time continuum, (the only way to get around the absolute law that nothing can go faster than the speed of light - thank you Mr. Einstein) the pitch will arrive just as Barry Bonds is batting.
