This looks fascinating.  Can I try the 1998 Blue Jays?

I may change my mind later, but I am tentatively going to select 1977 Cincinnati Reds

Maybe I don't understand, but who is 3rd eligible starter?

What I found, you can not trust loading all eligible players from a historical team. You have to go down to draft board and manually click on SP/RP and do a search for all pitchers from your particular team. This will give better results.

I just downloaded the salaries file (with stats), then loaded into Excel.  It was easy to manipulate the data to get a listing of eligible teams.  I can provide a list of the eligible teams if anybody wants it.

The research is still time consuming, but FUN.  There's no real easy way, even in Excel, to easily identify teams with great twist options that won't get drafted.  You could do a query on low-salary guys, but sometimes cheap players (even under $1M) have value.  On the flip side, sometimes expensive players who suck (i.e., 150+ IP pitchers with whips in the 1.40+ range) might be viable twist candidates, because nobody wants to waste a roster spot on an expensive mop-up pitcher.

So I have been essentially going team by team, trying to find good options.  I do have another option I am looking at, to possibly replace the 77 Reds.

Just as a point of understanding.  Theoretically during the first round of the draft we could pick 15 players from schwarze's team the 1977 Reds.  Then in Round 2 the other owners could pick 15 players from my 1997 Mariners. In Round 3 15 players from pedro's 1991 Brewers could go.  By the time the end of Round 8 comes the three of us will have lost are limit of 15 players while other owners could theoretically could have lost nobody by that time.  So they will be saving a twisted version of their second best player while it would make no difference to the three of us since we can't lose anyone else anyway.

Not expecting this extreme to happen but  in reality at the end of round eight we all will be dealing with a different number of players already lost.  I am not complaining or cheering but just trying to anticipate what will be happening.

mllama54 is correct.  We will each have a different number of players selected by the time we can start locking in our twisted players.

If you select a team with very few "good" draftable players, then you make it hard for others to fill their roster with usable guys (at least from your team), but then you may inadvertently force them into drafting some of your projected twist options.  If I am forced to choose between a $1.8M pitcher with 140 innings and a 1.39 whip or a $0.7M pitcher with 60 innings and a whip of 1.75, but the cheaper option is a great twist option for somebody, then I might take the cheaper guy instead.

It's not a bad thing to have lots of usable players on your roster, if you want to get your twist options through the draft.

REMINDER:  You cannot twist players who are sim-ineligible.

Will first round draft order be based on the value of our "secret" player, once revealed (as if it'll be hard to tell who that player is on each team!), or the payroll of our chosen -- but about to be decimated -- team?

First round draft order WILL be based on your selected "secret" player.
