There have been some rumors that Tom Crean (Indiana) would like to get out of Bloomington and take the Alabama job.  If that were to happen, I could see a domino effect with a lot of coaching changes happening as a result.

There have been some rumors that Tom Crean (Indiana) would like to get out of Bloomington and take the Alabama job.  If that were to happen, I could see a domino effect with a lot of coaching changes happening as a result.
One reporter said that rumor was started in February when Bill Belichick came to Bloomington and addressed the Indiana team.  Since Belichick and Nick Saban are good friends, Belichick "must've come to town to broker a deal between Crean and Alabama."

Part 2 of the rumor has Billy Donovan leaving Florida for Indiana

Barbee has withdrawn for UNR. I think it's likely Mussleman there. If not him, don't count out Justin Hutson.

For ASU, my bet is its either Capel or Josh Pastner that ends up there.

For ASU, my bet is its either Capel or Josh Pastner that ends up there.

This was reported yesterday.  If Barbee has withdrawn, that leaves Musselman and Pasternack.

"The Wolf Pack has reached out to three coaches -- Eric Musselman, Tony Barbee and Joe Pasternack -- who could potentially be the school's next head basketball coach, according to a report by Scout.com's Evan Daniels.

Nevada is believed to be conducting interviews this week before a decision is expected Thursday, at the latest. The Nevada Board of Regents have a special meeting set for Thursday in Las Vegas to approve the Wolf Pack's hire."

Wichita State assistant Steve Forbes has emerged as the leading candidate for thejob as head basketball coach at East Tennessee State University.

Forbes, a former assistant under Bruce Pearl at Tennessee, reportedly met with ETSU Athletic Director Richard Sander last week. Wichita State head coach Gregg Marshall, who has turned out five Division I head coaches from his staffs, was said to have given a glowing recommendation for Forbes.

Sander said Saturday he was still considering “three or four” coaches to replace the fired Murry Bartow.

“I can’t comment on who those guys are,” Sander said. “It’s really not fair to anybody if they’re still playing. I don’t want to distract them from their current situation, so we kind of have to take that into consideration and deal with it accordingly.”

“I talked to Anthony Grant (fired Alabama coach) and he said to me ‘I’d love to work with you.’ But right now, it’s just not the right time. Realistically, the timing doesn’t work for AG right now.”

Grant was making $1.9 million annually at Alabama and has a buyout worth $4 million, which decreases if he takes another job.

Forbes spent five seasons at Tennessee, coaching under Pearl. Forbes was also part of the staff when Pearl was fired for lying to the NCAA.

When Pearl was fired, his assistants got the boot as well in addition to a one-year “show cause” penalty for “not being forthcoming,” according to the NCAA. That made it difficult, if not impossible, to get hired at an NCAA school.

Forbes wound up as the head coach of a junior college, Northwest Florida State, for two years. His teams went 61-6.

In 2013, Forbes was hired at Wichita State.

From "New York Post":
Fordham has begun the process of looking for Tom Pecora’s replacement, and it began with a familiar name: Albany coach Will Brown.

Sources told The Post Brown interviewed for the men’s basketball position at Fordham on Tuesday in Atlanta with the Parker Executive Search Firm, which is handling the interview process, a day after he interviewed with George Mason. Parker is also handling that search.
The 43-year-old Brown has led Albany to three straight NCAA Tournaments  and is a finalist for the 2015 Hugh Durham National Coach of the Year Award, which honors the top mid-major coach in the country.

Other candidates believed to be involved include Norfolk State coach Robert Jones, Stony Brook coach Steve Pikiell and Rider coach Kevin Baggett, all of whom have local ties. Buffalo coach Bobby Hurley’s name has also surfaced, but it is unknown if he would be interested in the opening.Hurley is reportedly a favorite for the vacant DePaul job.

Whoever lands the job may not have the services of Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year Eric Paschall, who is seeking a transfer. He received permission Monday to contact other schools. Paschall tweeted he could return to Fordham, but that seems unlikely.

“I don’t think, regardless of the coach, he’s coming back,” one source said. “Their talent was limited to begin with, with him.”

From the Salt Lake City Tribune:

Utah Valley'
s search for a new basketball coach will likely last into early April, athletic director Vince Otoupal said Tuesday.

More than 100 coaches from around the country have inquired about the job to replace Dick Hunsaker, who is stepping down after 13 years at the school.

"It's an exciting time for us and our basketball program," Otoupal said. "… We've had guys [apply] from the Big 5 conferences. We've had guys from all over the West — the Pac 12, the Mountain West and the WCC. Guys want to come here. They realize they can be successful here."

Otoupal declined to discuss names, but The Tribune has learned three coaches currently connected to in-state programs are among the leading candidates at Utah Valley.

The list includes BYU assistant Mark Pope, Utah State assistant Chris Jones and Dixie head coach Jon Judkins.

Barret Peery, a former assistant at Utah who spent last season at Arizona State, is another possibility. So is Quincy Lewis, the wildly successful coach at Lone Peak High School.
