140M Teammate Draft, 2019 Topic

It's my pick but I'd like to understand the rules before I make it.

I'm struggling a bit to understand as well. I'm a visual learner, so an example with a few more picks in it would help me understand.

Maybe Ozo can post a 6 owner mock list of nominations, round one draft and then what the draft order would result in round 2?

I really don't get why people are complicating this so much. After Round 1, owners are ranked for Round 2 based on the owner rank of the player they selected a teammate of, with ties ordered in the inverse of pick the round before.

So, my understanding is:

If the nominations are as follows:

Owner 1: Player A
Owner 2: Player B
Owner 3: Player C
Owner 4: Player D
Owner 5: Player E

And if picks are:

Owner 1: Teammate of Player B
Owner 2: Teammate of Player D
Owner 3: Teammate of Player C
Owner 4: Teammate of Player B
Owner 5: Teammate of Player D

Round 2 order would be:

Owner 4
Owner 1
Owner 3
Owner 5
Owner 2

Ozo can confirm if that's accurate

I think this is correct

That is indeed how I took it as well. Though it does seem like it inherently lets people who pick early in round one maintain much more control going forward if they choose too.

Not really. You can only pick one teammate of each player, so you’re gonna drop at least one spot every round if you start at the top and work your way down.

Bit if your sole motivation is to retain a top pick every round, you’ll likely leave some better players on the board anyway.

If you pick first aren't there 23 other opportunities for another owner to move ahead of you in the draft order anyway (simply by drafting a teammate of the same nominee)? So, the 24th selection in each round would (and should) have the opportunity to control their draft position in the next one.

With so many people posting their interpretation of the rules, I am confused. Is round one a random order draft or does jfranco go first?

If round one is in fact a random order draft, shoudn't the draft order be determined first because it effects our selection of the nominated player?

Also, jfranco's selection of deGrom as his nominated player suggests to me that he may not fully understand the rules. Just a guess.....
I have an interpretation of the rules. Whether it's correct or not remains to be seen. :)

Here's a thought. How about a snake draft?

Here's a thought. How about everyone stops complaining about the rules?

What questions are still outstanding? Would be nice to get everyone on the same page so this could start moving.

When Ozo checks in, here's a mock draft:
Nominated Players in order: 1. Degrom by jfranco 2. Ripken by NebHusker 3. Randy Johnson by Mjk 4. Speaker by Mensu

Random draft order in round one: Mensu , Mjk, jfranco, nebhusker.

Mensu takes Robbie Alomar tied to Ripken. Mjk takes Ernie Shore tied to Speaker. jfranco takes Mussina tied to Ripken. nebhusker takes A Rod tied to R. Johnson. Nobody takes a teammate of Degrom. What is the draft order for Round 2?

Please don't offer your interpretation. Ozo's is the only one that matters.

I will not answer but will say the rule about moving to the end of the draft if a teammate of your nominated player is not selected no longer exists. The rest is pretty straight forward.
