Problem is Wylie. Doug ain't alone in that type of thinking.
How (and where) did ordinary Americans ever get the idea that "learned folks" (experts, scientists, etc----for kicks and grins go look up the dictionary definition of "elite") are a bunch of ignoramuses and us doofusses out here in regular joe-ville know more than the folks who are SUPPOSED to know more? (I have an idea but I'll keep it to myself)
One thing I know IF I was ever put into an important position of leadership...............I would surround myself with folks who KNEW MORE than I did on the important issues needing solved. For example I can teach you the fundamentals of throwing and catching a baseball........I'm a bit of an expert at that as I played SS for many many years as a younger person and I know the proper fundamentals.
BUT, IF I was directed to "coach" a basketball team, I'd immediately go hire an assistant coach)s) specializing in areas of B-Ball I'd have less fundamental understanding of!! Like rebounding fundamentals and techniques, because I was a point guard when I played and know virtually nothing about proper rebounding technique (with the exception of the necessity to "block out", of course).
One of the biggest dis-qualifiers for me as to Trump being a potential POTUS was exactly that, his pompous arrogance ABOUT his OWN ignorance.
When HE claimed he knew more than "the Generals" about our Military and the strategy employed by our Country to protect the peace and the people I knew for DEAD certain that this cretin was a lying moron of the highest order............someone so ignorantly arrogant that he couldn't even take the responsibility of leading the greatest Nation on earth with enough personal humility and awareness of one's own limitations of knowledge to listen to anyone who actually knew something that contradicted his own ill conceived notions.
THAT flaw of character in leadership is the MOST dangerous kind of human character flaw.
Everyone knows to be successful in any kind of competition to NEVER underestimate your opponent and NEVER EVER believe you are somehow "better" because the minute you think you're better, someone will come along and prove you wrong..........as my daddy taught me, when THAT happens it can be VERY personally painful. Sometimes, you get your *** thrashed. Sometimes you lose your life.
I'd tell you to ask anyone you know who underestimated one John Henry Holliday............but you can't.
Those folks is all dead!
Huckleberry............
