Overwhelmed looking at Rnd 2.
Juice's method of "oh, this one looks good" starts to get more appealing the longer I work at it.

Then again, there are those of us with <3 teams and who KNOW that all will not make the next round so would just wing it. My concern is not even knowing what you have to pick from so building a team that you wont even have access to is a complete waste. The research and optimism before each season is the best part but I do have empathy for those of you who need to build 15 teams. If anyone would want any help with a couple in particular, I would be glad to help....not saying I know better but to me it would be like playing Roto baseball, It would keep me interested in how "my team owned by another" is doing in the 2nd round after I get booted out.....haha.

I won't have near as many teams as you, so I'm going with a slightly simpler research approach for now. I'm hoping to move through all the leagues over the course of the rest of this season, but I've only managed most of League 1 through my first few days at it. Holidays should offer a bit more free time, though.

I search each pairing in the draft center (first doing all the pitching for a league, then all the hitting) and I make some simple notes on strengths/weaknesses/sure-fire clones and color code how strong I think each element is (Orange is spectacular, yellow is good, pale yellow is OK, no color means pass if at all possible). At least at a glance once it comes to my picks, I can see where there's some color I want to target and maybe build a few quick rosters at that point.

I have no idea if this is a good system, but it's largely what I have used before. This just has quite a lot more lines in the sheet to complete.
10 days later and I've got leagues 1-4 preliminarily done. Have a lot of free time this weekend, but I'm still behind pace to be done by season's end.

I've fully built 95 rosters so far, across 15 leagues, with a minimum of 5 teams per league. So I have a baseline of what I think are the top groupings in each league, although it's almost a certainty that I've missed some. The "10 players max from the first team" rule really neuters some of the what normally would be some great options.

We're roughly 10 days away from the end of the regular season. I hope to keep adding teams as time permits. The more teams I can add, the better idea I will have at the difference between the top groupings and the riff raff.

With round 2, I am looking forward to more normal scores. With the "effective" salaries hovering closer to $100M, we shouldn't see as much craziness in the scores that we are seeing in round 1. Today's pm session, on the very first two box scores I looked at today, one of my teams gave up 11 runs in the 8th, while my second team gave up 8 runs in the 7th. That shouldn't be happening as much next round. Most combinations have major weaknesses at one or more spots in the lineup.

It's going to be interesting to see how folks value the different "type" of team groupings.

There are groups with a strong "Best Team" but with a crappy "Secondary Team". Drafting this group would be akin to a "Stars and Scrubs" roster, or...

You could draft a group with no individual stars, but with more balance up and down the roster.

I went against my better judgment that I stated earlier and I actually did some research over the last five days or so. What usually happens is I'll have certain teams lined up as the best possible choices for each league - then once the drafting of teams begins and teams are flying off the board, and none of the teams I had picked out get taken. Which leads me to wonder - am I the only one who sees the value in this team (or teams) or am I just that far removed from reality and completely missing the boat. Based on past track record and overall totals in my last 19 years, I'd say it's the latter...

I think this round will see alot of that. Unless you are researching *every* team grouping in a league, it will be easy to miss a good option or maybe even find a gem that others missed.

Only second pass through each league, i have found a number of good options that i had peviousky missed.

Is anyone here willing to share research with me? I haven't done any research for round 2 due to me starting a new job and holidays. Please sitemail me. Thank you.

I'm sure glad thejuice6 released the rules to this theme a month ago. I can't imagine starting researching now in an effort to check every team-grouping in every league. I'm up to 200 rosters built, which represents < 30% of all the teams. This research should help me identify the top teams in each league.

But I need to continue building rosters until I have completed all my picks. I have roughly 2 teams per league (29 teams in 15 leagues), so I need to research the middle-of-the road team-groupings since those are what will be available when it gets around to my second selection in each league.

Even the owners drafting the last 4-5 teams in each league will have something like 20+ pairings to choose from. I know in some rounds in the past there would be very few remaining choices at the end, but it's going to take some roster building no matter where you draft in the order.

I haven't come close to building a roster yet. And I've been slowed by my first Covid case this past week so I am not even where I hoped to be by now.

Right - this draft, even after the top 30 portion is done, will probably take longer than any other juice tournament draft, just because of the number of team groupings that are available.

Even with me building rosters for over 200 teams, I am already preparing to have to research new teams over the next few weeks, as all the teams I've already built are taken off the board.

I haven't built a roster yet as I am waiting to see where I land. I really enjoy the roster building process and I sure hope I land in leagues that interest me the most. A big part of my team selection is player interest however I always enjoy discovering someone new.

Sorry to be. a pain, but I've never played in this before and find things very confusing.

League Alignment The top 30 teams from Round One will get to choose which league and which division in that league that they desire. After the top 30 team owners make their selection, each of the fifteen leagues will have a separate draft board set up in “TheJuice6’s Theme League Draft Forum” to finish out the picks for each league. Like the first 30, every follow up pick can and must include their division choice with their team selection.

What happens after these Top 30 get picked? I see the 15 leagues posted. Then what?

I have 8 picks after the Top 30. Am I assigned to a specific league? Do we fill leagues in order? Does it go in order from #31 to #360, and they can pick any league still open?

We are almost done with the top 30 draft, and then thejuice will populate all the league draft threads with the order for that league. So you'll have to check which leagues you draft in and when once they are all posted. Hopefully Monday, once the final pick in the top 30 is made.
