I sent a sitemail to Chicken8 about this. He sent me an additional challenge in the past 24 hours. My guess is there was some confusion and he thought we weren't fully scheduled yet, but we already have our home/home scheduled with my away leg (the one he sent the challenge for) scheduled for the wee hours of Wednesday night/Thursday morning (tonight).

So I'm ignoring the new challenge, but if there's some reason that he wanted to scrap tonights game (like if he's currently rolling over and his roster is in flux), just let me know before tonight's game sims.

I'm also just posting this here now for posterity/visibility.
His world is early in the signing phase but he has 22 on his roster and I haven't heard from him.

Since there are a number of new coaches to the Cup, this is a good time for me to explain a scheduling rule. Since each team plays a home and away against the others within their group, if additional games get scheduled, this is how I handle the situation.

For example, team A has their home game scheduled on 6/29 and team B has their home game scheduled on 7/3. If a third game is scheduled, let's say another team A home game, unless I hear from both coaches before the 6/29 contest agreeing to set aside the final score, the first scheduled team A home game will be the one of record. If I do hear from both coaches that a particular game should be ignored, then I'll honor a later game date to count for the standings.
We spoke via Sitemail. The second challenge was a mistake, so we're all set for tonight's matchup.

Having to spend my early morning doing some real life stuff. Cup update in about 45 minutes.
6/29/2023 9:12 AM
The morning games are in as teams move closer to either advancing or elimination.

A pair of Group G games saw a couple of 5-1 blowouts. Joe's team Of a Thousand Corpses made good on their promise, at least for a game, of being a major player with major game as they hit the road and crushed Kobelco United Football Club. Artur Marthaler scored in the 41st, 72nd and 80th minutes as The DEAD raced out to a 5-0 lead before Kobelco could eliminate the goose egg with a consolation score by Varik Brome in the waning moments. FC Kingston also dominated the scoreboard when they whallopped VB Hibernian at home by the same 5-1 margin. Arsenio de Sintra and Maky Guerrero both scord a pair as Hibs was never really in it. The loss puts Hibernian in the brink with a 1-3 record and is in a must win situation their next time out.

Fighting Ants and FC Cackalacky split the points in their Group F matchup, allowing both teams to maintain their tie for the top of the group standings in the early going. Cackalacky scored twice in the first 15 minutes as they caught the home team not quite ready to play at maximum effort right from the opening whistle. However, as the game settled down, Ants midfielder Cenewig Lander scored the equalizers and the game ended up drawn at 2-2.

FC trojans of SC opened up theur Cup XII tournament with a hard fought 1-0 road win over Arsenal F.C. in Group C play, as Arsenal drops its third straight contest, albeit all of them have been competitive losses. The lone score was a very early goal by American Gideon Kuhlman, who took a shot from distance and riccocheted the ball off of the far post past a diving Inocente Puccio. The home crowd of 40,000 went home shaking their heads as their side has played three Cup games and has lost all of them by a single goal.

Finally this morning, kangaroo fc got Group A underway with a 2-0 victory over Space Olympics. The Croats scored twice in the early going with goals by Russians Naum Desny and Egor Chekhol. Olympics could only manage one shot on goal as the kangaroo defense smothered any potential scoring opportunities that arose. Fortunately for the French side, they have 5 more games to tweak the lineup.

There are a lot of games this afternoon so I may make an update around 1-2pm.

All of the pm games were, oddly enough, played at 1pm so this will be the final update for the day.

the crutchanators of soccer bounced back from a big loss to Merchiston FC to win their 2nd Group B game, this one a 6-3 road win against Brighton AFC, who was playing in their FC Dynasty Cup debut. Brighton got off to a good start when McKenzie Green netted their first Cup goal at the 4 minute mark. The lead lasted exactly two minutes as the crutchanators responded with two goals of their own before the game was 10 minutes old. Defender Lamont Wahl then tied the game 2-2 later on off a pretty header and both sides went into the locker room looking for answers. Brighton seemingly found it when Hardwin Rogers found the back of the net in the 64th minute to give the home side a 3-2 lead but it wasn't meant to be. Ephron Ordner and Mikhail Stappelfeld both scored a pair of goals in the last 21 minutes as crutchanators pulled away for the victory.

Aurea Cruce Aquilonis went to the top of the Group E standings with a 5-1 hammering of Southeast Indiana Football Club. Cason Knowings scored twice, including one that went through the arms of veteran Indiana goalie Berchtwald Schiff. The loss saddles Indiana with a -7 goal differential after two games, which is not going to get the job done. They don't have long to right the ship before their next outing if the Knockout rounds are in the club's future.

Lastly, a pair of games out of Group D mark the halfway point for that group's play yet all four teams are still very much alive. Shoals Soccer Club went to the top of the standings with a difficult 1-0 road win over North Polar Dragons, who fell into last place. The lone goal came with 25 minutes left when Sergio Serena redirected a cross that kept rising and just snuck in below the crossbar, giving the young Isreali North Polar goalie Aderet Schar no chance to make the save. The other game was a 2-2 draw between Bordeaux Fighting Bovines and Eton Rifles FC, as both teams sit at 4 points. Eton jumped out to a 2-0 lead, sparked by Shamus Matchett's corner shot to open the game. But the Rifles tired in the late going and the Cattle were able to salvage a point when Hassoun Hautcoeur delivered an accurate strike from just inside the penalty box.

Lots of games tomorrow as we enter the heart of the Group Stage schedule. Only 4 unscheduled games remain and, at this point, there are games every day between now and July 9th.

There are 13 games today, 6 this morning and then 7 more this afternoon and evening. The standings should start revealing the cream of this tournament's crop by the time the day is over.

Updating the morning games now.

Good stuff this morning. FC Yenisey Krasnoyarsk opens their tournament with a 4-3 road win over the crutchanators of soccer in Group B, coming out firing on all cylinders. The ref blew the whistle, Krasnoyarsk passed the ball down the field and Andrey Prerovsky scored his first of two goals before the first minute had ended. After 10 minutes, the Russian club had added two more, including a goal by midfielder PavIpv Lebedyenko, whose name does have a capital I in the middle of it (pronounced Pap-eye-pv.) crutchanators did recover from the blitz to appease the 53,000 fans in attendance but couldn't completely bridge the gap.

In Group D, Bordeaux Fighting Bovines won a critical matchup against North Polar Dragons 2-1 as Bordeaux retakes the top spot, leaping over an idle Shoals Soccer Club. The contest was dead even and all of the scoring happened in the first 40 minutes. The game winner ended up being Mexican forward Lionel Insua's effort from distance in the 25th minute that gave the Cattle all three points. North Polar probably needs to have a positive result in its next outing or they'll be in toast.

The Shield of the Cow recovered from a home loss to dominate Aurea Cruce Aquilonis on the road with a 4-0 victory that lifted The Cow to the top spot temporarily in Group E. Halbert Labazares, a former Golden Toe winner, scored three and perhaps is regaining his form, which would make The Cow a dangerous squad. Aurea Cruce had plenty of possession but couldn't create many scoring chances and, the few they did, Cow goalie Luke Sengier was up to the task.

Fighting Ants has solidified their position in Group F and appear to be a likely Knockout participant after their 4-2 win over Fianna AFC. Goals by four different players showed a balanced attack as the Ants reach 7 points after three games. Fianna had a good game, with both possession and scoring chances. They led 2-1 in the 50th minute when Kale Gunning won a wild scramble in front of goal and knocked one to the back of the net. However, the Ants dominated the last 30 minutes of the game to secure the victory.

The last two games this morning were out of of Group G. VB Hibernian was facing a must win situation and got it as they beat Joe's team Of a Thousand Corpses 3-0 at home. Mohamed Saylor scored twice and takes the lead in the Golden Toe as his side gets a critical three points when they needed it most. Hibs sits with 6 points with one game remaining and probably needs to win that final game to have a realistic chance of advancing. Meanwhile, DEAD suffers its first Cup loss. The other game was a 2-1 FC kingston victory over Kobelco United Football Club in Kobe, Japan. Rayshaun Lozada broke the tie in the 80th minute when his shot was screened from Tetsunori Saotome's view, giving the Kobelco goalie no chance to react. Kobelco, at 1-3, is in serious trouble and needs to win ASAP. Kingston, at 3-0, is looking good.

More this evening...

The Fianna coach is solid. I'm sure the challenges will be sent out long before the deadline.
6/30/2023 5:46 PM
Four of the afternoon games were 1pm starts so I'll add those now to avoid a mile long post this evening.

Somewhat of an upset in Group B, Brighton AFC threw the entire group into a mess when they defeated Merchiston FC 5-4, giving all four teams three points and eliminating the invincibility of Merchiston, which had finished as Champion and the Runner Up in the last two Cups. Templeton Jaramillo scored twice for Brighton and defender Howland Goodrich, pressing forward as regular time was expiring, scored the game winner on an unassisted play that beat veteran Merchiston goalie Clifford Arnoldo. Thomas-VanLuijk De Meyer scored two more goals for the Scottish side in the losing effort.

In Group D, Shoals Soccer Club had an opportunity to solidify their hold on a transfer spot but couldn't close the deal as they lost at home to Eton Rifles FC 4-1. Eton dominated the score and Shoals was never really competitive in the match, only avoiding the shutout when Jorge Withycombe knocked one home in a goal which may have tiebreaker implications down the road. The top three teams are now separated by a single point and the last place team, North Polar Dragons, has a game in hand, making the transfer spots anybody's guess.

Burnaby Hillbillies opened their Cup XII with a 4-1 road win over FC Trojans of SC in Group C play. Hernandez Corralero scored a hat trick for Burnaby, one of the original Cup I participants from way back in 2019 when the tournament was largely made up of World 91 teams. Trojans midfielder Damien Mullarkey accounted for his team's lone tally in the 36th minute.

Southeast Indiana Football Club bounced back from a listless performance and gave a much better effort this time around, although they fell 3-1 on the road to FC Not Very Athletic. Indiana controlled the stats, having 26 opportunities and 19 shots. Julian Namoff's goal in the 16th minute game the visitors the 1-0 lead and the game was still tied until the final 30 minutes when Lindleigh Little snuck one past Indiana goalie Berchtwald Schiff to give Athletic the lead for good The win gives Athletic six points in their first two games. Indiana, on the other hand, must point in its next contest or it will be virtually eliminated.

There are three more 7pm games which will be updated around 8pm.
6/30/2023 6:26 PM
There were actually four 7pm games to record.

I am fairly certain that what Arsenal F.C. is doing is a first in FC Dynasty Cup tournament history. Arsenal fell to FC Trojans of SC 4-3 in tonight's game, marking the fourth consecutive one goal loss to open the Group Stage...0-4 with only a -4 goal differential. Clearly competitive but can't buying a break, Arsenal tied the game in the 74th minute when Schaddoc Smith hit a perfect strike from outside the box to make it 3-3. But, the Trojans scored late when Dahal Corner hit the corner (and the goal post) to clinch the win. Arsenal is not mathematically eliminated but can only reach 6 points and and tie for 2nd place if a hundred things all break their way.

Also out of Group C, Metropolitan Screaming Eagles held onto a slim margin atop the standings with a 2-2 draw against Burnaby Hillbillies. The Metro Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead and then tried to hold on. Burnaby, however, scored literally on the last play of the game, two minutes into extra time, when Payne Tarley volleyed the ball out of the air right into the leg of a defender, which changed the angle and left goalie Zapotocky Pustejovsky in the wrong position to make the save. The ref blew the whistle and the teams split the points.

Space Olympics won only the second game played in Group A, a road victory over SwampDragons United, who was making their Cup debut. Spaniard Vincente Ontiveros scored twice and the Dragons avoided the shutout only when Dionte Leeds redirected a cross with his head to find the back of the net with about 15 minutes to go. Olympics will play its next game against the defending Champs, who finally make their first appearance tomorrow.

In the last game tonight, Aurea Cruce Aquilonis and FC Not Very Athletic played to a 1-1 tie, making Aquilonis the first team to have multiple ties in this Cup. There were a number of scoring chances, especially by Athletic but they couldn't convert them into goals. The point leaves Athletic tied atop Group E with 7 points and Aquilonis currently sits with 5 with a lot of action still to be played.

Tomorrow features 10 games, including the opening game from Group H.
6/30/2023 9:15 PM
A couple of games this morning. The bulk of today's results are at 7pm, so I'll just do a huge update tonight.

The first Group H game finally gets played as butterfiles united crushes Club de Fútbol Deportivo Cotopaxi 5-1 on the road. butterfiles just owned the stats sheet and despite the game being tied 1-1 at halftime, butterfiles easily pulled away in the 2nd stanza as Lucila Astol scored twice by putting his laces into the ball and juking the defenders around him. That kind of result makes me nervous when butterfiles plays my own Fußball-Club Köln 01/07 e. V., the lowest rated team in the entire tournament.

Merchiston FC regained the top spot in Group B with a 5-3 home win over the crutchanators of soccer. 48 year old Giovanni Léonard showed that age is only a number and scored twice, supported by Rocky Wynne's two goals, who happens to be half of Giovanni's age. crutchanators got a pair from Joss Diestelfeld but, sitting at 1-3 in the group standings, are probably not going to advance unless they change their tune in the remaining two games they have left.

Tonight's update will be a mile long and could include the first transfer spots to the playoffs.
7/1/2023 8:44 AM
There were four games completed either in the late morning or in the afternoon...so I'll post those first while the 7pm games roll in.

We have our first team to clinch a Knockout Round birth as FC Kingston punches their ticket out of Group G as they continue Group Stage perfection, this time with a 2-1 win over Joe's Team Of a Thousand Corpses. After taking a 1-0 halftime advantage, both teams traded goals within two minutes of each other, the game winner by Arsenio de Sintra in the 59th minute. Kingston, with 12 points, can do no worse that 2nd place. The other three teams are all vying for the other transfer spot with VB Hibernian being able to go a long way with a final game victory, especially if they win big.

The defending Champs Rushmore FC opened their tournament with a 1-1 road draw against Space Olympics. Both teams scored in the first half and then turned up the defense as lots of shot did not translate into any production. Half of Group A's games are on July 4th or later, so it's going to be a while to sort things out.

Bordeaux Fighting Bovines is a result away from clinching a spot in the next round as they with a tight game 3-2 over North Polar Dragons in Group D. Tito Gambaro scored what ended up to be the game winner in the 62nd minute when he connected from distance to beat North Polar goalie Aderet Schar. The Cattle can clinch with either an Eton Rifles FC loss or tie or their own win or tie in their final group game. North Polar is right on the edge of elimination.

The Shield of the Cow also finds themselves a result away from punching their own ticket as they beat Southeast Indiana Football Club 3-1 on the road in Group E action. The Cow controlled the game from the outset and sits on 10 and can clinch based on the finals core of the Aurea Cruce Aquilonis/FC Not Very Athletic on July 3rd...or they can take care of their own business with a positive result in their own final game. Southeast Indiana, which can do no better than 6 points, has been eliminated from advancing.

The 7pm games should not be done so I'll start working on them.
7/1/2023 8:14 PM
The Shield of the Cow becomes our second team to advance as they tie FC Not Very Athletic 3-3 and assure their spot in the knockouts. Halbert Labazares capped off a comeback for The Cow as they overcame a quick Athletic start and clawed back out of a 3-1 hole to split the points. The draw prevented Athletic from clinching their own spot but, at 2-0-2, are in fantastic shape to move on unless they completely collapse. The other result in Group E saw Southeast Indiana Football Club show some serious grit. After becoming the first team eliminated in Cup XII, they proved themselves on the road with a 2-1 road victory over Aurea Cruce Aquilonis, gaining their first points of the tournament. The loss seriously damages the chances of Aquilonis, who needs to win and then pray.

Shoals Soccer Club officially eliminated North Polar Dragons from the competition with a convincing 5-1 home win in Group D. Jorge Withycombe goes to the top of the Golden Toe leaderboard with his 6th and 7th goals, both coming early, to set the tone in the game. The crown of more than 43,000 went home happy as Shoals momentarily leaps over Eton Rifles FC for the 2nd transfer spot with both teams having one game remaining. Eton has to win to have a chance and a Shoals win will send them through.

kangaroo fc wins another game by shutout, this time 3-0 over SwampDragons United. Three different players scored for the roos as they take over the top spot in Group A in the early going.

There are another 11 games tomorrow as additional Knockout Round spots are claimed. The time is now to make your team's statement. After this weekend, the number of games remaining really start to trail off.

Fianna AFC hasn't challenged anyone

Unscheduled Games - 4

Group F

All three Fianna AFC home games (Fianna sends the challenges)

Group G

Joe's Team Of a Thousand Corpses home to VB Hibernian (DEAD sends the challenge)
With that prompting, now is a good time to make the official reminder. On page one of the tourney (right below the Golden Toe tracker) is the unscheduled games list. There are 6 days left to schedule if you include today. No worries yet but let's get those games on the calendar, if we can.

As swampdragons said, Fianna has all three home games outstanding. The Group G game requires Thousand Corpses to send the challenge but VB Hibernian and Fianna AFC are the same person.

So, if DEAD would please keep an open challenge out there in slot 4 or so, that would take us to the deadline of the Group Stage.
