Great endorsement, ron! It's funny because someone told me they thought I should have allowed more choices for each box, and my feeling was that just leads to even more ways to feel insecure about whether you've built a good team. I think limits keep you from torturing yourself too much while still allowing great variety in the eventual rosters.

I put a team in. Challenging but fun, good theme idea.

How can I not play after reading RTG’s post? It does look tough.

I was actually just going to post about a new league I made which is also uses an immaculate grid with options. It’s based on one of my favorite players, Luis Tiant. I’ll wait until this one fills before making a thread.

I got sidetracked with the final round draft for thejuice's tournament, but if we aren't filling up fairly soon we might need a few 2nd teams from owners. So I think you'll likely get a chance to use more than one.

I agree this should be considered for a round 2 theme in the next WIS championship. It’s too difficult for round 1 but would be a great challenge for the cage contenders. I’m envisioning some sort of random draw for all the options so no one has any advantage of tinkering ahead of time.

I do not believe the sim allows you to use two versions of a player from the same season. You should get this message:

" The player you tried to add is ALREADY on your roster. You can not have the same player (same year) on your roster twice. "

In fact, it’s pure torture. I’ve screamed out loud in frustration a few times.

One of the most difficult builds I’ve ever encountered.

But…if you like puzzles or challenges or just masochism, this is the league for you.

Or, if you are happy with simply completing rosters that have 25 players and you don’t care the shortstop only has 487 plate appearances and D/D- fielding and your bullpen gives up more homers than my mom pitching at Coors, than this is the league for you.

If there were a Pulitzer Prize for WhatIf Sports forum posts (and let's face it: there should be) the above would be a prime contender.

I had a bunch of free time during the last week of 2023, so I spent the better part of a day drafting a team for this league. I took redcped's "I could easily be persuaded to boost the salary cap here to get a bit more star power" at face value and didn't worry bout fitting my team under $100M, and ended up with a team I loved that would be great at $105M and easily scalable up to $110M. However, I'm just meh about it at $100M. I'm willing to submit it, but I don't love it.

I now have a bit more time so I'm going to start from scratch and see if I can do better. I'm kind of glad this league has taken so long to fill. I'm looking forward to more self-inflicted agony.

I found (and entered) a $100M team that's more to my liking. They can't pitch but they should be fun.
