Stick to words you understand, and you'll be fine. :)

I assume it is just evidence that people had caught on to the "value" of the empty-rating slugger, and it is taking people time to replace them with non-power alternatives ... and maybe the double-whammy with the tweaks to defensive penalties

swamp, sadly, is incapable of 'catching on' to things.

Man, you need a new hobby, for you to come here and mention me in a post that didnt mention me at all borders on obsessive behavior. I realize how interesting I am to read, but maybe you could start stalking Snake_p.

That said I would like you to comment on my point that unlike HD or GD, HBD is harder to change your team. You control people all the way back to their teens. You sing people to multi year contracts. You do not have everyone just graduate.

To make this radical a change in a game like HBD can be horrific to some teams!

Unlike GD or HD, in HBD you can make trades. You have a lot more options to change your team quickly than you do in the college dynasty games.

How about the case of Dan Jones. 90 Power rating(93 last year). Last year, 59 HRs in 618 ABs(HR/10.47 ABs). Lifetime 278 HRs(HR/13.40 ABs). This year? 1 HR in 64 ABs! Now THAT's an adjustment!
12/25/2009 9:51 PM
From 618 AB's last year to 64 AB's this year! He must have ****** off the manager.
12/25/2009 11:01 PM
I still think this change is ridiculous in it's scope.

My team is down 28% in power this season based on my 6 returning starters.

Last Year - 273 HR in 2993 AB, HR avg 1 per 11 AB, Avg SLG 0.615

This Year - 128 HR in 1936 AB, HR avg 1 per 15.1AB, Avg SLG 0.531

Power of the players in question. 92, 90, 63, 83, 99, 99.

If power is going to be decreased, it should be a % across the board, not just affecting the top end players. To add steroids into the game ONLY to take them away from the top power guys is absurd.

It is an absurd solution, regardless of how good or bad swamphawks players are.

I like this idea about making a HBD college version with the players graduating in 4 years. In addition to not having to wait for a rollover, you dont get stuck with any contracts at all!!! Love it, you're a genius.

Because FA and trades aren't a part of HBD right? Oh wait... You can indeed change your team via the aforementioned ways and in addition drafting more than one type of player (i.e. steroid freak with no batting eye, contact or vL/vR splits. You exploited a rating (power) that had way more impact that it should have and now that it's been altered and your guys are performing like MOST would expect, you come out complaining.

I can state with absolute certainty that if a change was made that benefited/improved their performance, you would never have started a thread to whine and complain

Your team has 128 HRs in 1936 ABs this season (1 HR per 15.1 ABs), with a slugging pct of .531 this season.

The best team in MLB last season had 244 HRs in 5660 ABs (1 HR per 23.1 ABs), with a team slugging pct of .478.

I'd say HBD needs to tone down the power numbers even more.
12/26/2009 10:12 AM
I would agree with toning things down even more. If part of their rationale for the old system was that it was based on Barry Bonds hitting 73/year (which he only did once) then they are obviously trying to generate realistic results.

In my world, 146 games played, there are 8 people with 40+ HRs and 3 more with 50+. I'm not really sure that those results reflect the current MLB trend. The current top 3 hit 70, 62 and 63 last season and are on track to come close to that again this season. So whatever they adjusted has only had a minor effect

All worlds aren't going to produce the same numbers under the same engine.
