There was some talk about it but it was very brief and died down pretty quick.
Perhaps we should start up the convo again and see what people think? If we did go ahead with it, it'd probably have to wait until after season 20...
Its funny you mentioned that, switching to the new engine, cuz just the other day a krazy thought crossed my mind........ which would involve the "evolving" of the MLD. Keep reading..... but keep in mind this is just me typing out my thoughts..... this is by no means an "official decision" Just wanna hear some feedback.
Currently, we use "career limits" to build our teams..... career limits meaning we all know the rules regarding how long a skater and/or goalie can be used within our league. This has proved to be a very cool way to do things as it has allowed all sorts of different strategies to be used by all 24 of us.
My krazy idea... (again this is just me typing out loud)...would be to scrap the "career limits" in favour of a hard salary cap system.
By "Hard Salary Cap System", I mean every team would be allowed say....... 10, 12 or 15 million units to use on their team. There would be no "adjustment" bonuses(the kind that are given to Cup winners) We would still keep all the non-playoff skill upgrade bonuses stuff as it has proven to be useful in helping teams/GMs rebuild and stay competitive... We would also keep the 20+ games equals a season (aka salary increase) aspect of things
With a "Hard Salary Cap" system, it would allow skater/goalies to play possibly longer careers...but at a cost to the GMs who have them on their roster. Sure you could have Joe Smith play 10 seasons for your team...... but with each passing season, Joe Smith and his increasing salary would force you to make some tough decisions regarding the rest of the team.
I dont know, like I said, just typing out loud..... would anyone like to chime in with their thoughts?
